2007 vintage. Decanted and tasted immediately and throughout 1.5 hours. Medium/medium-heavy body. Initially filled with Chambord and sweaty saddle flavors and aromas. Picked up some copper/aluminum flavors along with a distinct, pushy zinc finish after that 1.5 hours. Seems to have enough personality to go steady for another 5-6 years without a noticeable drop-off. 11.12.23. — 2 years ago
2018 vintage. Took a big position-15 cases-with the 2015 vintage that rolled in at...you guessed it...$15 a bottle resto cost. That one had barely lighter medium body with a roasted nuts and Chambord thing going on and was absolutely delicious for the ridiculous price. The 2016 vintage was equally nice and similar notes/texture/pricing. This 2018 vintage is dirtier, more robust and slightly pricier. Will hop on this train in a few months after we clear out a different Spanish offering. 2.26.26. — 2 months ago

2017 vintage. Medium body. Upon opening, fairly compact for a “resto vintage”. The usual tar and dark cherry notes. The longer this was open, the more fanciful it got. French Toast. Cola nut. Chambord. Eucalyptus. White pepper. Pomegranate/hibiscus. Transitioned into a Barolo/(red) Burgundy hybrid. Not enuff structure to go more than 4-5 years in this current uniform. Would attempt another open field tackle again in the near future tho. If you wanna crush an above-decent Barolo tonight without infanticide/ca$hi$h/non-compliant tannin issues, you could do immeasurably worse. 12.15.24. — a year ago
2022 vintage. Last tasted a year ago 01.15.25 (9.1). Continuing medium body . The prettier, perfumed side of Syrah currently vs. the knuckle-dragging, monolithic style of Syrah. Excellent intro into this grape for those timid souls afraid of the big, bad wolf from previous wine escapades/near fatalities. The white pepper, black pepper, dustiness and Chambord hallmarks swirling about in both nose and mouth. Second pass after chilling down to the mid-60's (from 70 degrees) added a pleasantly gauzy layer of smoke and tobacco. Still trying to figure out what it wants to be when it grows up but gaining in both confidence and street cred. Show some respect...er...patience if you can. 2010 vintage. Courtesy of @Pinotman /// Andreas. Great fill. Nice cork. Opened with a Durand and decanted. Minimal sed. Tasted 45 minutes, 1.25 hours and 2 hours after open/decant. Initial gamey, smoky nose mostly dissipated and Chambord/dark plum rushed in to fill the vacuum. Medium-medium heavy body still. Surprising, this had not thinned out and was drinking mostly primary. Never been the biggest Chapoutier fan but will be keeping an eye out for this one in the May gray/grey market.
