Savory with aromas of soy sauce, oyster sauce, salted plums, and a whiff of rubber tire. Well-rounded and complete in youth. Three years barrel aging + 1 year bottle aging. — 2 years ago

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2008

One of my favorite producers! 1hr+ decant. Dark red color. Nose had cherries, tar, and baking spices. Wine had nice depth and balance, but began to tire towards the end of the bottle. Medium minus finish. I would drink up and be mindful of the amount of air. — 3 years ago

Mariflor Malbec 2018

I enjoyed this, hubby did not. It does have a diesel, burnt tire smell. Not the best on the nose. Tasted great though. Full bodied, very jammy. Strawberry and lingering sweetness. I would buy again & I know I’d get the whole bottle to myself. 🙂 — 7 months ago

Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey

Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend

Tres beau sauternes! En demi a perdu le côté petrolé qui me fait pas on a tout simplement un beau sucre. Tire d éponge, miel, abricot confit et belle texture sans sensation de lourdeur. Bravo!
2003 est um millésime surprenant.

Fusion V Stellenbosch Red Blend 2014

My experience with South African red wines is limited, but I’ve enjoyed some Meerlust reds and a few other random bottles. I have to say, while this wasn’t a revelation, it is the best South African wine I’ve had to date.

This was a bottle opened blind for a few people. Oddly enough, there were similarities to this and a 2013 Almaviva…a burnt rubber/tire note on the nose alongside a vegetal/herbal pronounced note on the nose. Tangy/sour black cherries, red currant and red licorice too. Mostly red and black underripe fruit dominant. Even a bit of tar. This drinks like a chinon mixed with a lean vintage Bordeaux…the spice and vegetal flair is there next to the lightweight mid palate from a cooler Bordeaux vintage. A blend of five “noble varietals” in honor of Bordeaux, this was a unique wine that had people guessing from all over the world. After 1-2hrs of air from
bottle, it was balanced/integrated and ready to roll. I’d enjoy these sooner rather than later.

The Ojai Vineyard

Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir 2019

A bit cloudy ruby color; red and blue fruit, minerality, and oak on the nose with some decadent dusty attic-notes and tire-rubber; medium-plus on the body, acid levels, and alcohol (13.5%), fine tannins, tart cherries and strawberries. — 3 years ago

The nose on this is really nice. It’s floral, perfume, blueberry, and bright red fruit. The palate almost doesn’t match. Not in a bad way. Nose seem to promise delicacy and palate was big and powerful. It’s red and blue fruit with some salinity, rubber tire, and meaty smokiness.
92 for now. We grabbed a bunch on a good deal. I’m excited to see this evolve over time. Super young but really enjoyable now.
