Confidences de Prieuré-Lichine Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2019

2019 vintage. 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon. The good news is that I have another unexpected good experience with a Diam cork this week (Diam 5 in this case), praise the Lord! (and I would never have bought the bottle if I had known in advance it had a Diam cork). 2019 is one of my favourite vintages for Prieuré-Lichine, and the second wine is pretty good too. More Merlot-dominated and easy-drinking compared to the grand vin, but a most pleasurable Margaux for a very reasonable price (27 euros in their shop, I sell it a little cheaper even). Smooth and elegant, and another fine Bordeaux value. Abv 13,5%. — a day ago

Château Des Tours Réservé Côtes du Rhône Red Rhone Blend 2019

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of dinner at Le Mazenay. The 2019 pours a deep ruby/purple color with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with notes of ripe mixed brambles, some dried red and purple flowers, a touch of VA, some black pepper, some anise and dry earth. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. A fantastic pairing with partridge. Already showing very well in its youth. Drink now through 2034+. — 7 months ago

It was a really nicely aged vintage champagne. And probably better the next day!

This is actually a red wine, 100% pinot from declassed villages wines due to yelds higher than allowed. Great bottle. Fruit, tannins and balance. We liked it a great deal. Price is unfriendly so not something we’ll do often. — 5 months ago

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2023

Château Prieuré-Lichine 2023 – Margaux, Grand Cru Classé en 1855. BDX France 🇫🇷

Overview
A developing Margaux showing early aromatic charm and layered complexity, with youthful structure and noticeable oak integration that will benefit from short-term aging.

Aromas & Flavors
Red cherry, raspberry compote, wild strawberry, subtle vanilla pod, sweet baking spice, light cedar, emerging floral tones and faint graphite.

Mouthfeel
Medium-bodied with tight but refined tannins, good mid-palate tension, clean line of acidity, and a structured finish that signals further evolution ahead.

Food Pairings
Duck breast, herb-crusted lamb rack, porcini risotto, roasted chicken with thyme, aged Gruyère.

Verdict
Already expressive and layered, but still in its formative phase. A couple more years will soften the tannins, integrate the oak, and elevate aromatic precision and depth.

🍷 Personal Pick
Not ready to fight for my podium of winnings wines for immediate consumption yet — but the engine note is promising. Worth revisiting soon.

Vin de Pays de Vaucluse Red Rhone Blend 2019

Clean grenache fruit. Medium bodied and charming. Although the telltale Burgundian élégance was available in spades, I felt that this was (too) young and could have had an extra 5 years of cellartime. — 3 months ago
