Listening to The Strokes and wondering where rock n roll went. It's completely vanished. I mean new rock bands- they don't exist. The charts are dominated with this disgusting pop/rap/country mashup. 2019 vintage. From 13 hectares in the Haut-médoc appellation. In this vintage, the Cabernet Sauvignon was extremely concentrated, which explains the unusually high percentage of Merlot (67%). A serious wine, that is drinking well, but should further improve over the next few years. — a year ago

A very nice Pommard. Decanted for 4 hours at the suggestion of the fine folks at Chambers St. Layers of aromatics reveal currant, plum, and earth / leather. Lots of dark cherry on the palate. Very complete with a long finish with some great acidity. Tannins certainly there and even after 4 hours a touch of oak is faintly evident, but not in a bad way. Thoroughly enjoyable. — 7 years ago

2022 vintage. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. One of the rare unclassified Saint-Julien estates, owned by the Meffre family, that started in 1961 with a small vineyard that was part of Saint-Pierre, and was gradually expanded with parcels bought from Lagrange. The quality is on the rise here, and the Meffre family believes this is the best wine the estate has ever produced. Ripe black fruit,a fresh floral note, and very subtle oak. There is a little heat from the high alcohol (15% abv.), but there is fresh acidity to keep the balance, and that prevents the wine from getting jammy. Solid smooth tannic structure and serious length. An estate to watch. — 2 months ago

Another delicious rendition of the “Chateau Lagrange Blanc.” Beautiful fragrance seemingly melds a little herbal, gooseberryish SB with characteristic lanolin and orchard fruit Semillon notes (I have no idea what the blend is here.) Deep, lovely, soft minerality too. Impeccable balance in the mouth. Nice but gentle acids keep the deep, long, dry palate fresh. Such a great value too. — a year ago

Well stored bottle, No problems whatsoever Dark web info, Chateau Lalande Borie is a relatively new estate in the Medoc. The vineyard was initially created when the Borie family purchased 18 hectares of vines from Chateau Lagrange in 1970. To that, they added 12 more hectares of vines from various other growers, some of which needed planting.

Things changed with the 2018 vintage when the estate was renamed Le Petit Ducru.

Chateau Lalande Borie Vineyards, Terroir, Grapes, Winemaking

The 25-hectare, Left Bank vineyard is planted to 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Franc. The vineyard has a terroir of gravel and clay soils. The clay in the soil is part of the reason that today, you find more Merlot in the vineyard. Previously the Cabernet Sauvignon occupied 65% of the vineyard makeup.

The vineyard is well placed in the western part of the St. Julien appellation. It is situated inland, not too far from Chateau Lagrange, Chateau Talbot, and Chateau Gruaud Larose. The vineyard is planted to a vine density of 8,500 vines per hectare.

1990 vintage. Bottom neck fill. Excellent cork. Decanted with appropriate sed. Slightly darker color than all the 1990 BDX I've tasted in the last year. Initial, slight funk on the nose that dissipated rapidly. Tasted immediately after decant, 1 hour and 2 hours later. Started softly but then brought out that big, Lagrange stick. Cedar, smoke, plum, leather, mercury, distilled dark cherry, summer pond mud. Displayed better balance throughout than expected with good staying power. Based on this excellent sample, will be shopping for more. Could hold in this spot for another half-decade before recalibrating. 12.5.25. — 9 months ago
