Alpi Retiche Rosato 2018

I really like this Rose' of Nebbiolo in glowing pale salmon. A big wine with delicate complexity, equally wide and deep.

Restrained aromas of blood orange, red cherry candy, and lavender. Lands softly - creamy round texture, sour finish of cherry syrup and rosemary.

Indaco Toscana Merlot Sangiovese Rosato 2019

InSerrata Indaco Rosato Toscana 2019 Tuscany, Italy

This week's
#MerlotThursday is an interesting Rosé from Italy.

Neon orange in color with a peachy hue.

Strong nose of over ripen citrus fruits, apples, spices, light vegetables, cherries and raspberries.

Medium plus in body with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with apples, citrus, raspberries, ripe limes, almonds, bitter herbs, earth and vegetables.

Spicy finish with bitter herbs.

This is an elegant Merlot based Rosé from Tuscany.

Soft and smooth with a nice mouthfeel. Gets earthier once it opens up.

Easy drinking and good by itself or with food. Paired nicely with Brie cheese and fresh berries.

A blend of 70% Merlot and 30% Sangiovese. Organic.

13.5% alcohol by volume.

Willamette Valley Rosé of Pinot Noir 2020

Château Musar

Bekaa Valley Rosé Blend 2018

This was presented double-blind to the Tasting Group. The wine is copper in color with a pinkish hue, possibly due to skin contact. No signs of gas or sediment. No staining of the tears. On the nose, some slight VA, underripe stone fruit, grassy notes, slight petrol notes, olive brine, white pepper and very slightly smoky. On the palate, fruit is more pronounced; bright and tightly coiled. The stone fruits are confirmed…adding quince to the fruit set. The wine is quite floral too and there is a slightly toasted marshmallow thing. The wine is dry. Not tannic. Acid is medium+. Wonderful texture. Guesses were all over the place but when I said that it was not testable, one taster called Chateau Simone Palette Rosé which, is a really great call. Anyway, Musar Rosé ended up being too far a stretch for even this group of seasoned wine geeks. This was my first experience with the 2018 Musar Rosé and I would recommend to hold for a few years an allow to uncoil and flesh out. — 16 days ago

Laughing Pig Pinot Noir Rosé 2021

Light salmon in color with a pink hue.

Fruity nose of raspberries, strawberries, cherries, spices, light herbs, citrus, limes and light vegetables.

Medium bodied with medium plus acidity. Crisp and refreshing.

Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, earth, spices, citrus, pears, red apples, minerals and white pepper.

Nice finish with spices and limes.

This is a very tasty Rosé from Oregon. Nicely balanced with a soft and elegant mouthfeel.

Good by itself or with food. Showing nice complexity and very easy to drink, so watch out.

I paired it with a Charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.

100% Pinot Noir grapes. Unfiltered and unfined. A small production of only 450 cases.

14.2% alcohol by volume.

Texas High Plains Grenache Rosé 2021

This pink wine is quite rich in color. Its hue is a cross between salmon orange and copper, looking very much like roses. The nose is a blast of strawberries, green parts and all, with an earthy herbal streak and a line of black pepper. On the palate, the brash rosé comes on like a red wine, with tons of flavor and a refreshing acidity. This wine’s pairing ability can reach from salads’n’seafood territory into pork chops, burgers and cheese plates. — 11 days ago
