Mind bender from Canary Island - first of all, beautiful bottle with custom flourish on the top opening. This wine is wild, so much saline & minerals, crushed seashells & stones, lemon/lime, dried tea leaves & herbs, some quinine… just so out here. Austere angular, all sharp edges & zesty acidity, and absolutely viciously bone dry. You have to get the food pairing right on this - we didn’t but still a cerebral exercise. — 2 years ago
Haven’t had since July 2019. Wow what age has done to this wine. Totally transformed. An absolutely glorious nose that just screams limestone. As it has aged it has become less northern Rhone and more of the limestone soils of Efringen-Kirchen. There is a core stoniness that is just stunning now. Floral, meaty, olivey but so restrained and cerebral. This is just so on point aromatically. At 7 years old this is in a perfect aromatic place. The palate is pure silk. So nimble, juicy and delicate. Amazingly pure. Green olive and dark berry fruit that brightens up on the extended finish. A light touch of sweet oak adds a sultry allure. It’s seamless and effortless on the palate like silk with structure. As the acid and tannins are there to ensure at least 10 more years. Super long, complex and sweet finish. Genius wine. My last bottle. It’s is amazing the quality of Syrah from Ziereisen. Outrageous value. Sold this for under $30. — 3 years ago
Sensational. In both the literal and traditiional senses. And this is all about senses. Cerebral switch flicker. Vin-neutropic. You can let it breathe for a week at room temp and it won't give an inch.
The aromas are beautifully saturated with oxidized notes. Honey butterscotch, beeswax and Kentucky bourbon. Tropical notes. Papaya apricot. Floral stuff. Violets, white jasmine. And the chemical residue of a new leather handbag.
It tastes hot, but its only 12.5%. Finish powerful and long to completely exhaust your neurons. — 3 years ago
Insane Chenin. Reductive but opulent. Waxy yet clean. So fucking cerebral. — 2 years ago
Speechless…
Guigal La Doriane meets Aubert Ritchie and then back to Chapoutier l’Oree.
Monumental wine showing mesmerizing notes of tropical fruit and flowers. Deep, rich and intense. Pine-Apple and papaya, firecracker, ginger and candied lemon. Such an impressive and heavy-handed wine… yet Its fantastic acidity makes this is so complete, so hedonistic, so cerebral….
Just great.. 🤙🏻 — 3 years ago

Absolutely love this wine, had it before and this is a subsequent vintage that was similarly engaging and well-balanced, precise, not super generous, but a cerebral, thinking man’s wine — 8 months ago
