Cerasuolo D’abruzzo Rosé

Azienda Agricola Valentini

Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo 2018

Light orange colour. This rare rosé is everything but the poolside pink we all see everyday in summer.
Pomegranate, rhubarb, bloodorange, wild flowers, touch of matchstick or volcanic rocks. Lots of structure and length, bitterness (Campari!) and acidity in the aftertaste.
This is something special for the adventurous wine-geek, and certainly not for everyone’s palate.

Chiola Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Rosé

A refreshing Pinot for a summer wine, not much else to add, it was great and it’s a little late to be reviewing it. And a great summer wine — a year ago

Orange flowers and citrus on the nose. Sour cherry jam, strawberry, cassis on the palate. Little structure, balanced acidity. Heavier mouthfeel. Fantastic rosé. — 3 years ago

Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Superiore Casanova

Very dark for a Rosé- light garnet, slightly translucent. Light bodied, slight light sweetness, red plum, strawberry, and a nice touch of acidity. Very good but a bit strange for a Rosé- — 4 years ago

Asor Calabria Rosato 2022

The rosato you don't expect..especially from a Magliocco.
Super queffable, but also very complex
Very long finish
Cola, chinotto, incense, licorice, leather, tobacco, definitely balsamic. The fruit is mixed with the mineral. Even the producer is quite astonished about the direction this wine has taken.
I dare to say the label is misleading, firstly cause it looks like an easy, straightforward rose wine and it is not, and secondly cause this is closer to a chilled red than a rose 100%. This could only be sold as a chilled red in Queensland. Very much in the spectrum of an amazing Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo.

Bouquet of wild berries that brings you back to the glass again and again. Nice weight and concentration. Malo creaminess. Very unique.
Echoes of the Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo I had recently.

Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Rosé 2020

Enjoyed this rosé, hubby did not. Lemon and perfume on the nose. Strawberry and vanilla, dry, good acidity not very astringent so the strawberry lingers at the end. Would buy again (for myself). — 4 years ago

Massa Vecchia

Maremma Toscana IGT Rosato 2018

1630 bottles produced
Old school natural wine
Niccolaini was the avant-garde of the movement without ever being in it himself.
I got told stories of a farm with no electricity perhaps a decade ago or so
Massa Vecchia is appreciated for all its labels and you can find out which one is your favourite
Personally i am not a rose drinker, but i knew i wasn't going to be disappointed here
This is more like a Valentini cerasuolo d'Abruzzo, but even more extract, i dare to say if you sell this wine for a red nobody would argue.
It's funky to start, it gives you cola and china and its fresh and fun, plus very long and mineral.
Quite earthy perhaps not a precise fruit to define, but real good altogether
For my understanding this is the last vintage made by Niccolaini' daughter in law as a winemaker and i keep a bottle of the next vintage..i am very curious to how he has come back to his captain seat.

@Ira Schwartz perhaps Ariento top
It changed my point of view on the vermentino grape and the natural white wine altogether, but that was a while ago, I'd say if i recall well the 2007 version. I was told(i haven't tasted😔) that the last few vintages made by Francesca Sfondrini were a little oakier, but i trust Niccolaini being back to adjust that.

Guarnaccino Rosato 2025

I had bought the Rosato when he started to make it for the restaurant i was working for in Rome few years ago.
Good colour, not a thin Rosato, but not a cerasuolo either.
You can feel the tannin, and you can feel the balsamic. I personally like it, but i understand that it can divide the crowd.
Quite long and enjoyable

Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo Rosa-e

Beautiful color, like a very light red or a dark rosé. Loads of strawberries on the nose and palate. Lovely floral aromas too. This definitely drank like a rosé, but paired well with the heartier fare we enjoyed tonight. This was a great find! 100% Montepulciano. 1/1/23. — 4 years ago

Le Cince Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo

Bellísimo. To my chagrin, not Cerasuola the Sicilian blend but Cerasuola d’Abruzzo (Montepeluciano). Still - rusty red, fruit punch jolly rancher with herbs and lot of effervescence. Like the native yeast here. Another out of mold rose. Enjoying end of summer at in laws pool with Farottos. — 5 years ago
