Cellier Saint Jean

Jean Francois Jacouton

Pierres d'Iserand Saint-Joseph Syrah 2017

Lyle Fass

One of my new producers in the Rhône. What a nose. Essence of Syrah. Grapey, tweed jacket, so earthy and mineral with huge blackberry and raspberry fruit. Even cassis. Loads of spice. Soaring nose. Palate is super supple, with loads of game, fresh pepper and blackberry fruit. Suave tannins and devastating purity. Amazing velvety tannins and such feral and gamey depth. Lovely freshness. Good structure and will age effortlessly for 10 years. — 3 days ago

Les Vergers Clos Saint-Marc Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Chardonnay 2013

Very bright and sappy. Clear lemon, good minerality and a peachy midpalate. Great clarity- still dynamic with a flinty backbone — 24 days ago

Domaine Jean-Louis Chave

Saint-Joseph Syrah 2013

Still developing, all business at this point, nothing flashy but has it together. All of the classical northern Rhône things are there (violets, pepper, smoked meat, herbs et al). A nice way to experience the maestro without shelling out big(ger) bucks for the Hermitage — 15 days ago

L'Argile Côtes du Ventoux Grenache Blend

Berries sour cherries licorice spices strong tannins that softened. Flavors were different depending on the temp of the wine. Amazing. — a month ago

Clos Saint Jean

Vieilles Vignes Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2011

This is quite the sultry, voluptuous red. I was a little dismayed to see 16% on the label, but it was actually pretty balanced. Nose has warm sandstone, baking spice, and sweet oozing dark red berries. Full (obviously) in the mouth, with peppery berry fruit and stony minerality in the finish. Went really well with mesquite-grilled porterhouses. — 14 days ago
