Les Ménétrières is a one-hectare, southeast-facing vineyard with one third of the vines 40-years-old, one third 20-years, and a third are 10-years which are planted on shale in the upper half of the vineyard and pearly slabs in the lower half. The soils here are composed of alluvial deposits, layered with a sub-soil consisting of limestone and limestone marl streaks, with top layers rich in stone-free limestone deposits and light marls. These mineral rich soils greatly reflect in the 2012, which shows gorgeous streaks of minerality woven together with stunning aromas of Asian pear, white peach, lemon zest, almond, smoke, saline and a spicy floral character. It continues to impress as it expands on the palate with its lovely oily texture, which is beautifully cut by wonderful acidity that carries on through the delicious, mineral laced finish. Today, the Les Ménétrières seems to be the most complete and compelling wine I have tasted from the Domaine in this vintage. It is already showing tons of character and I only expect it to further evolve in the bottle — 5 years ago

A beautiful Chardonnay. Creamy and peachy without being overwhelmed with oak and butter. — 4 months ago
