Estate dates back to Crusades & Scottish navigator, George Smith, owner in the 18th century. Followed by M. Duffour-Dubergier, Mayor of Bordeaux, then Louis Eschenauer, a famous wine shipper. In 1990, Daniel & Florence Cathiard now own estate. Blend of 60% Cab Sauv & 40% Merlot, dark berry aromas, herbs and earthy spice. On the complex palate flavors of cherry and currant with pepper, tobacco and cacao notes. Soft ripe tannins, long finish ending with an earthy mineral character. — 2 months ago
One of the more accessible and expressive 05’s I’ve had in a while, Cathiard’s Vosne-esque Aux Murgers is open and giving wafting perfumed and spice laced dark berry fruit with violets, black tea and damp earth. The palate is pure silk, elegant and seductive, perhaps even belying the burly vintage typicity, with terrific persistence, balanced acids and soft tannins. An 05 that is finally ready to go! Beautiful wine. — 4 months ago
Quite deep still clinging to ruby with a wide quite garnet rim. On the nose touches of sous bois , spice , red fruits , cherry , raspberry and strawberry , porcini . On the palate quite rich and rounded with sweet black cherry , fresh strawberry, raspberry , very good acidity and rounded but quite grippy tannins . In a lovely spot now but will go further , for now and over the next 10 years. — 10 months ago

It is time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Inky in color with a reddish rim.
Pretty nose with cedar, chocolates, black fruits and spices.
Full-bodied with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, spices, licorice, chocolates, light vanilla, tobacco, black pepper, espresso and light cola.
Long finish with fine grained tannins and cherries.
This is a delicious Cabernet Sauvignon based Bordeaux blend from the problematic 2020 vintage in Napa Valley.
Complex and engaging. Elegant, rich and fruit forward. I really enjoyed the nose, once it opened up.
Will continue to age nicely in the next 7 to 10 years. Has good potential to become a 94+ point wine.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime.
A great sipping wine. Nice to see low alcohol from Napa Valley.
Wine Enthusiasts 94 points. Wine Advocate 90 points.
A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 10% Malbec. Aged for 12 months in (40% new) French Oak barrels.
13.6% alcohol by volume.
92 points.
