Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of a couple of hours. The 2014 Classico pours a slightly hazy garnet with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing. Initially showing notes of stewed red fruits, however with about 30 minutes of air, the fruits freshened up. Morello Cherry, macerated strawberry, dried roses, tar, leather, gravelly earth, and a pleasant mix of cool spices. On the palate, the wine is bone dry with high tannin and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium plus; grippy and savory. An often maligned vintage in Piemonte, particularly in Barolo (though some outstanding examples exist). However, in Barbaresco, there was more success and this is an example. Drink now through 2034. — 5 days ago

really liked this, hadn't heard of this varietal - ended thinking it tasted like Pecorino. straw colored, lovely nose of citrus & white flowers, waxy, herbaceous, a wild element, even some tropical fruit as it warmed, med bodied, silky yet vibrant acidity, more mineral on palate but still w/fruit from nose... persistent finish. what a treat! bump for QPR — a month ago

Pretty similar colour . On the nose a little more herbal and a little less intensity than the Ovello , with some sous bois and sea side hints . On the palate this is slightly more reserved and less tannic , little less rustic , a little more elegant perhaps . Touch of mint on the finish . Ok length . This is a little simpler than the Ovello overall, and will probably need drinking sooner . Drink now and over the next 5 or so years — 12 days ago

Medium garnet ruby core , terracotta rim . This is quite reserved on the nose with some dried spices, cured meat , porcini , light sous bois , dried red fruits . On the palate this has quite high acidity and a linear personality, quite mineral with some red fruits , cured meats and liquorice , black tea hints . Slight gritty tannin and medium length . This is drinking well now and will continue over the next 5-10 years or so . — 12 days ago
