Great as always. A seductive perfume of white lily and jasmine flowers waft from the glass, and there is exquisite balance on the palate, with a bit of Viognier/Chenin “gras” paired with wet rocks, a refreshing tartness and almost phenolic spice on the finish. — 3 years ago
It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix.
Here is a delicious one from Napa Valley.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Fruity nose of blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, spices, espresso, cola, light herbs, earth, chocolates, eucalyptus, tobacco, red chili pepper and peppercorn.
Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity with long legs.
Dry and very fruity on the palate with blackberries, plums, sweet cherries, spices, vanilla, cedar, licorice, raisins, leather, black pepper, pencil lead and light earth.
Long finish with round tannins and tangy cherries.
This is a gorgeous Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley. Nicely balanced with nice complexity.
Drinking very nicely now, although still young, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 to 15 years.
Good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime.
Tannins show up after 2 hours in the decanter.
I had the 2015 vintage last year, and this one is even better.
A great wine to have all by itself, but will pair nicely with a nice piece of steak too.
I love these Napa Bordeaux blends. Fabulous wine.
A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Aged for 27 months in (50% new) French Oak barrels. A small production of only 2,400 bottles.
14.4% alcohol by volume.
94 points.

My last bottle of this. It’s really good in a fuller style Oregon Pinot. Complex nose has gravelly loam, sandalwood notes, sappy cherry ooze, crushed rock, a little autumn baking spice. Full and broad in the mouth, but the flavors exhibit a nice balance of fruit, mineral, and underbrush notes. Medium acids, and a little very fine-grained tannin makes an appearance in the back half of the finish. Very nice — 9 months ago
Buttercream, apricot, lily, and lemons with a bit of sea shell. Yum! — 2 years ago
Her Mir Tage
Henry Jayer certainly live up to his name!
The wine possesses a profound, healing, oriental herbal bouquet. It's not like fresh mint or basil; it's more like opening a traditional apothecary cabinet filled with premium Chinese Angelica Root (Dāngguī), Astragalus (Huángqí), and dried lily bulbs, or walking through a damp forest after the rain, with scents of ginseng, licorice root, and dried citrus peel warming the air, all interwoven with the luxurious undertones of black truffle and moist earth. It's an aroma that evokes serenity, warmth, and nourishment.
Upon first opening, it presented an aroma of traditional Chinese herbs. After breathing in the glass for half an hour, the wine truly began to unfold, releasing intense notes of red fruits, woody fragrances, and those distinctive herbal nuances. The body is a remarkable fusion of elegance and power. Despite its age, the 1988 vintage retains a finely structured and layered profile, with a clean palate and velvety, silky-smooth tannins. The finish is exceptionally long, evoking the delicate scent of morning dew on bamboo leaves. Overall, it’s an utterly captivating wine that leaves one truly enchanted.
