Brouwerij Verhaeghe

Duchesse de Bourgogne Flanders Red Ale

this beer is surprising! sour, but not in the overdone way i’ve become a little sick of with sour beer trends. sweet, but nicely offset by some lovely funk. fun beer that i’ll definitely pick up again. — a month ago

Surlie Willamette Valley Pinot Blanc 2015

Clean, green, athletic and refreshing: Granny Smith apple, lime zest. Good zippy acid for a PB. Time on the lees gives this wine tension, tone and muscle. Haven’t had - or craved - much Pinot Blancs to date, but this one makes a perfect pairing with with brats, Brussels, sauerkraut, dill, etc. An alpine meal for a summery January evening (after 4.5 years of living in California the ☀️☀️☀️ never gets old). — 8 days ago

Loibner Mühlpoint Smaragd Grüner Veltliner 2013

2013. Viscous, mineral, green apple, with good acidity. Went great with pork schnitzel and roasted Brussels Sprouts. One of those bottles where the last pour was the best and I probably should have decanted for a half hour or so... — a month ago

Bruocsella 1900 Grand Cru Organic Lambic Ale 2019

I’m pretty sure this is my first still beer. Really funky with a lot of wood notes, cedar, pine forest, lemon rind with the pith, some dried apricot, and an herbal quality. This is fascinating but with the explosion of orange wine not as interesting as probably 10 years ago. This is still a fantastic sour beer but hard to get past no carbonation. The idea of packaging this beer as all beer would have been from casks for the last 3,000+ years is pretty cool. Anyway I’d rather buy wine for this profile. — a month ago

Rosé De Gambrinus Raspberry Lambic 2020

So excited. The bubbles are so fine. Beth much like champagne. It is unbelievable how balanced this is. Tons of raspberries, lemon rind, a hint of vanilla, and a touch of funk. The finish lingers for 2-3minutes and it is just perfection. If I ever get another bottle I want to try next to the rare barrel raspberry that I have. — a month ago
