Viña Real (CVNE)

Gran Reserva Rioja Tempranillo Blend 1970

Elegant. Not showing age - no brown even at edges. M+ length. Perfect with Spanish autumn dinner (venison carpaccio, partridge). — 19 days ago

Marqués de Murrieta

Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial Rioja Tempranillo Blend 2010

Wine of the Year by WS in 2020. Revisiting this jewel is magical. Wine is aging incredibly well. Showing secondary and tertiary characteristics. The tannins are becoming fine grain and velvety. The fruit even more consentrated. — a month ago

Gran Moraine

Yamhill-Carlton Pinot Noir 2021

Delicious. Notes of tobacco, raspberry, plum, cocoa, dessert, and tar on the nose. Medium-plus bodied with a palate to match. Subtle tannins balance a rich, fruit-forward palate. Tons of red and purple fruit. Deep, dark Pinot Noir that’s still light enough to sip or pair with food. — 4 days ago

Bodegas Muga

Gran Reserva Prado Enea Rioja Tempranillo 2016

2016 vintage. Nice but not nearly as impressive as the 2015 effort. 11.19.25. — 16 hours ago

Bertoldi

Gran Passione Rosso Veneto Corvina Merlot 2022

I’ve posted on this 2022 a few times previously, wanted to compare it to the 2023 we also had, this is much better than the newer 2023, more depth and complexity, longer finish, very fine $15 wine!! — 2 days ago

R. López de Heredia

Viña Tondonia Gran Reserva Rioja Blanco Malvasia Viura 1981

Splash decanted directly before service; enjoyed over the course of a few hours out of red Solo cups. The 1981 Gran Reserva Blanco pours, a golden color with medium viscosity. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of Khalas dates, dried apricot, black lemon, almonds, toasted coconut and marshmallow. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long and the texture is waxy. A cerebral wine and just lovely stuff. Well stored bottles have a long life yet left ahead. Drink now with patience and plenty of air and through 2051. — a month ago
