A charming wine from a very good producer. Blend of Carignan, Garnacha, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Syrah. Concentrated and bitterly herbaceous upon opening. Thyme and sage, cherries, hibiscus, licorice, and orange peel. Whew, a mouthful!
Update: 4 hours later this wine is calm and harmonious.

Wow! Notes of mushroom and chestnut, rich and oaky, medium body, paired surprisingly well with a lobster ceviche. — 2 years ago

First it is important to point out that even though is a cabernet sauvignon this is a white wine, it is very fruit forward, mainly red apple, dried fruit and even some cherry on the nose which is not common for a whit wine, even though is fruity on the palate is not overly sweet and has a very nice dry finish. — 5 years ago
Still drinking nicely. Dark fruit and saddle leather and some tannin. — 5 years ago

San Gregorio – Las 75 Vendimias – Red 2021
Calatayud DO – Aragón, Spain 🇪🇸
Overview
A tribute wine honoring Emilio González’s 75 harvests, sourced from old, high-altitude vineyards in Calatayud. This Garnacha-driven blend (70% Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo) captures the rugged character of the region, elevation, stony soils, and traditional viticulture, resulting in a wine that is both expressive and grounded, with warmth, balance, and authenticity.
Aromas & Flavors
Ripe black cherry, wild strawberry, and plum lead, followed by dried Mediterranean herbs, licorice, and gentle baking spice. Subtle earthy and mineral notes emerge with air, reflecting the old-vine origin and high-altitude terroir.
Mouthfeel
Medium-to-full bodied with rounded, supple tannins. Garnacha brings generosity and warmth, while Tempranillo adds structure and grip. Fresh acidity keeps the wine lively and balanced through a smooth, savory finish.
Food Pairings
Grilled lamb, herb-roasted chicken, mushroom dishes, lentil stews, aged Manchego, or rustic Spanish fare with olive oil, roasted peppers, and slow-cooked meats.
Verdict
A soulful, well-priced Spanish red that delivers true sense of place. Honest, expressive, and comforting, this is old-vine Garnacha done right, approachable now, yet structured enough to hold its own at the table.
Did You Know?
Calatayud is one of Spain’s highest-altitude DOs, with many vineyards planted between 700–1,000 meters, helping Garnacha retain freshness and balance even in warm vintages.
🍷 Personal Pick Highlight
This is real Spain in a glass, old vines, elevation, history, and soul. A wine I happily recommend when authenticity matters more than flash. — 7 months ago

Delicious. Oak on the nose but not as much on the palate. Red fruits. Spice on the finish. Would definitely buy again. — 5 years ago
Best Mencia I have ever had, still with at least a couple of decades ahead, opaque garnet burgundy color with no sign of bricking, from a small century old vineyard, very distinctive nose of menthol, leather, clove, nutmeg, Asian five spices, pot roasted pork, black licorice, cassis and black plum, full body with fresh acidity and velvety tannin after three hours decant, tastes of black cherry, black berry, clove, licorice, espresso, black plum, mocha, and sandalwood, 588 bottles produced with 6 additional magnum. — 5 years ago

As Sortes from Rafael Palacios is 100% Godello from 50-70 years old vines. This is minerally, fresh but also complex with great length. For an 8 year old white wine this is quite spectacular. — 20 days ago
