Moon X Black Pinot Noir

paired this with a pot roast, a christmas movie, a new vacuum cleaner, and a fluffy robe - it was lovely. it’s a little on the sweeter side for a pinot but still has the dry punch on the back end. label could have some more interest but overall it’s a solid wine, would probably buy again — 14 days ago

Good god. Peaking right now.
Huge aromatics on the nose. Superb weight, balance and texture. No rush to consume. Cedar and macerated black cherries transition to coffee and hints of maple. Blew me away. In raptures over this. Direct from the winery when I lived in Europe.

@David T, so subjective. Personally, I prefer WS ratings (due to blind tasting scores), but I do my research before investing. I always assume “buyer beware” when I purchase wines.

@Ron R My point was really this…there are deals/value to be had on the vintages William Kelly reviewed. The Wine Advocate still basically sets prices for wines w/ their reviews. Right or wrong, like it or not. That William Kelly’s reviews were an aberration over other known & used critics reviews who all gave those vintages reviewed by Kelly high 90’s. If you can’t taste a wine before buying it, the logical thing to do is look for similarities in reviews and if you don’t do that, follow the one you agree w/ most. I taste a lot of wine so I don’t have to rely on other critics. But if you don’t taste a lot of wine, the advice I give people is to look for agreement amongst critics. The Pontet Canet vintages reviewed by Kelly I am seeing those priced sub $100. I saw one of those Kelly vintages at Costco yesterday sub $100 and the reason I brought it up. The non Kelly vintages are selling quite a bit higher. This Chateau has produced consist high 90’s scores since 2005 across a wide band of critics. So, the question I ask is, did the Chateau’s quality dip or did a reviewer change? Something to watch and be aware of as a wine buyer. Cheers & happy holidays. 🍷

Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2019

Very good. Lots of black fruit aromas (a plum, blackberry & black currant), an oak & a vanilla, so I”m a little disappointed. — 7 days ago

Excellent wine for the price. Almost has a sutle Merlot taste but without the oaky finish. — a month ago

Dominus Estate

Dominus Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

#AgedWineTuesday

Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim.

Strong nose of black fruits, cedar, spices, chocolates, coffee, licorice, light vanilla and black pepper.

Full bodied and elegant with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with black currants, cooked cherries, tobacco leaf, dark coffee, cedar, earth, dark chocolates, licorice, cola, spices, vegetables, herbs and black pepper.

Long finish with fine grained tannins and tangy cherries.

This 17 year old Napa Cabernet Sauvignon feels more like a Left Bank Bordeaux. Fruit forward with nice complexity and a soft mouthfeel.

Showing great complexity and delicious, but I expected more from this great 2007 vintage. I had the 2001 not too long ago, and it was so much better.

Nicely balanced and good by itself or with food. A good food wine too.

A blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.

14.1% alcohol by volume.

93 points.

$350.
