Really enjoying the aging FMC at 6yrs still improving and getting better
Golden liquid with honey mead and infused citrus flavours with a long satisfying aftertaste, yum

Have a number tucked away and looking forward to trying again in a couple of years.

Kanonkop Estate

Paul Sauer Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2019

Nice South African wine dinner Wednesday at Angelo’s Cabarita on Sydney Harbour
Eight wines served with typical South African food so pairings were important as food can be quite spicy (Kingfish Crudo, Peri Peri Chicken, Bunny Chow Lamb Curry, Boerewors, Rib Eye and Malta Pudding)
The 2019 Kanonkop Paul Sauer Bordeaux blend from Magnum was excellent as was 2021 Meerlust Bordeaux blend as well as the 2017 Kanonkop Pinotage from Magnum. Also interesting was 2007 cold fermented Nederberg Edelkeur with the pud.
Great night.

The Wolftrap Syrah Blend 2023

Light color. Rusty red. Smells like rosehip tea and hibiscus. Flavors a pretty complex and intriguing. Has a bit of a citrus (blood orange) side. Fine and full finish. This is a complex and nice balanced rule of red. — 8 days ago

T'Voetpad White Blend 2021

Medium straw colour . Quite reserved on the nose , cool green apple , slightly chalky , mineral notes . On the palate this is quite saline and mineral focused , with high acidity , bone dry , green fruits , slightly creamy texture . Good length. This can age really quite well and is pretty young at the moment , would be inclined to leave another 3-4 years and will drink well a further 5-10 . — 17 days ago

Haven’t seen this in OZ but Sadie Family have been producing some terrific wines including Semillon and Chenin blends. I had a Kokerboom (Semillon) recently and highly recommend.
Probably one of the best South African producers - both white and red.

@David White South African wines are generally hard to come by in Australia for some reason. I agree regarding Sadie wines. Their Columella (Syrah) I had a few years ago was excellent.

@David White and @Bob McDonald yes I have had a few of their wines , and have been very impressed , great purity and precision … I actually shared a bottle of their Cinsault ‘ Pofadder’ with an Aussie friend of mine recently who bought it in a very good and diverse wine shop in Taipei … very difficult to find it in Sydney apparently
