Because the champagne wasn't impressive I went into the deeper parts of my cellar to dig up a sweet wine which I knew would please the crowd. 21 year-old and kicking!
Apricot, honey, dry fruits, hasselnuts, wax, preserved orange peel, sweet bready touches too. The botrytis thing is strong! The palate is surprisingly long, easy going and fresh! It was a very hot vintage but it seems they managed to keep some freshness in the berries because the acid drive, which is massive, is balancing the sweetness of the wine so much that it's almost a palate cleanser. Apricot and honey notes all long, before a very long and fresh finish that goes on for a good 35 to 40 seconds. We need to make Sauternes a hot thing again ! — a month ago
Wow 🤩 - Deep gold color. Aromas of burnt honey, pineapple, dried apricot, passion fruit and eucalyptus. Simply divine on the palate - orange, apricot and dried fruit.

Medium lemon yellow . Quite high toned , with nutty orange and lemon rind , dried apricot , touch of resin and toasty almonds . On the palate quite rounded with dried orange rind , lemon pith , and toasted almonds finish . High acidity and lots of extract . This is drinking well but will continue at this level for perhaps another 5-10 years . Lots of life yet . — 2 days ago

Served with Fisherman’s Pasta - sablefish, mussels, saffron gnocchetti pasta, fennel, fresh baguette toast. If there is one thing constant about every Lopez de Heredia Blanco that I’ve had the pleasure of enjoying, it’s that they are never boring. The 2006 delivers on that with notes of dates, dried apricot, German candied nuts, marshmallows, cumin, dill and toasted coconut. Dry with fantastic acid and the texture is waxy. One of my favorite white wines on earth. Will probably live for another 20 years easy. — 3 months ago

Followed over a few days. Consistent profile.
From 375ml
Advanced caramel color with a tinge of orange. Thankfully, aromatics are as expected with orange marmalade, caramel and toffee. Viscous and weighty profile with low acidity. Faint notes of honey roasted nuts on the palate, but it’s mostly an orange marmalade, caramel and apricot dominated profile. Finish shows good length for what is considered an off-vintage, with the apricot and some bourbon vanilla. Good on its own. Drink now. — 2 days ago
