Château Rieussec
Sauternes Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend
An astounding sticky, nose of candied melon. Liquid pear and peach extract delivered on clouds framed by whispers of lemon and lime zest. Among the best Sauternes I’ve had, and the stuffing to improve for at least 10 years. Thanks, John @tavernsquare, brilliant as ever!

Sep 12th, 2018Powerful & thx to my homeboy for opening- I remember when it was a wee sauterne, now such a big boy. Roast pineapple, bass notes of Spanish peaches ( yup, eating them now & they are different), treble notes of mature kiwi etc.?.

Jan 17th, 2017Great complexity and intensity. The lack of acidity makes this #sauternes a touch cloying. Plenty of life left. #chateaurieussec #bordeaux #ctbucklinwine

Jun 6th, 2016Trying to come up with more flattering analogies but all I can think of is pineapple juice and piña coladas... Really don't like the modern Rieussecs. Seriously middle-of-the-road; like recycled episodes of the Simpsons on Dave.

Feb 20th, 2016This is way too overdone for my taste. A hugely (almost sickly) sweet (unbalanced) wine full of waxy notes of honey and vanilla, with over-the-top jammy stewed fruit. Not what I look for in Sauternes. It's not terrible but it's basically just a bull in a china shop. A brute of a wine. No real finesse to speak of. Frankly poor winemaking - there's no excuse for this. Who are they trying to impress? I agree with Jancis (14/20) - Parker (96) was paid off or had a cold (a great example of why not to follow his peculiar ratings). The rest is going in my chicken casserole tomorrow.

Mar 26th, 2015Deep gold in color. Lower acidity than expected. Lots of white stone fruit and sweetness with some biscuit on the palette. Great complement to Brie. For the vintage and the producer a little underwhelming.
