Quite deep garnet , just a hint of ruby and a wide garnet , terracotta rim. Touches of chestnut , dark fruits , earthy liquorice , dry spice and black tea . On the palate this is very classically styled , with dark liquorice tinged blackberry, raspberry , spiced black tea and menthol tinged good long length finish . Balanced acaidity and quite high , grippy tannins. With time this is beginning to show quite well , but will not doubt improve over the next 5 perhaps 10 years and last well a further 10 . Really quite classic and imposing in style , but detailed and complex. — 14 days ago

@Anthony De Blasi good question. Firstly I think the wines from Fontodi are young or old always excellent. We had a 2010 Flaccionello a few months ago that felt like it could have been just a few years old so I think you still have time. Always difficult to know when to pull that cork but regardless you will enjoy it!

Absolutely excellent. Aromatics actually faded a bit with a 1.5 hour decant, so might watch that in the future. Lots of earthy cherry. Not overly refined, but in a good way - tastes like the older school piemonte that it is, with just the right bit of earth and leather. Excellent acid and a long pure finish. Great pairing with Kinderhook pork chops with a porchetta style seasoning. — 24 days ago
