Fairview Cellars

The Bear Premier Series Okanagan Valley Red Blend 2016

Phenomenal. Every other year I open one of these bottles from 2016 and the evolution keeps impressing me. On the nose, has a character of rainy ancient west coast forest. On the palate, Blackberry, blueberry, with hints of dark cherry. Blended perfectly with a rich, aged, leather. Hints of cedar wood, slightly smoked. Perfectly balanced. Only going to keep getting better over the next few years. — 7 days ago

Bodegas Alejandro Fernández

Tinto Pesquera Crianza Ribera del Duero Tempranillo 2014

Cool label. Looks like a classy ancient place. Smells ripe. Some licorice and cherry cola on the nose. Hint of fresh Italian herbs. Maybe some lavender. Flavor is complex. Woodsy with the cedar/sauna thing they do so well over there. White pepper. Dry and chewy. It’s got all the right flavors I expect for a good Temp from España. Lingers with a great black licorice and berry compote finish. — 2 years ago

Château Cantemerle

Haut-Médoc Red Bordeaux Blend 2015

Great vintage great value. Juicy mid pallet gives way to a very nice long finish. Mostly Merlot so you don’t get much oak or spice. You taste the true dark fruit that comes from ancient old world vines. This wine is a dArk, rich purple color to the rim. No staining on the tears. Notes of soft baking spice, clove on the nose. All around beautiful Bordeaux bottle. — 2 years ago

Tenuta Caparzo

Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2016

The name of the estate comes from "Ca' Pazzo", shown on ancient maps. Caparzo is owned by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, she also owns Altesino. Deep Ruby with berry fruit aromas with cedar, herbs and smoke, aged for 2 years on oak. On the palate cherry, plum & cranberry flavors, with leather, cacao, spice, herbs and tobacco notes. Lively acidity, fine approachable tannins, long ending with spicy mineral oak finish. — 8 days ago

Château Miraval

Côtes de Provence Rosé Blend 2019

The 2019 Miraval Rose is sourced from their 500 hectare vineyard that is set in valley in the ancient village of Correns in the center of Provence. A blend of Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Rolle, the vineyard is set on limestone and clay soils. A light dusting of salted damp earth combines with pretty rose water and melon tones on the nose. The palate is fresh and wonderfully textured, showing layers of bright melon and red fruit flavors with a great veil of tension. Fantastic now, this beautiful effort will cellar well over the next seven plus years. Drink 2020-2027- 91 — 2 years ago

To the best of my knowledge Brad and Angie still own Miraval and the last piece of news in January had them collaborating on a Rosé Champagne with Marc Perrin and Rodolphe Peters.
