In 1972, Alejandro Fernández & wife Esperanza Rivera of Pesquera de Duero initiated the renaissance of Ribera del Duero appellation with area's first modern wire-trained vineyard, their Viña Alta in Pesquera. Their entry level wine is a great value. Deep Ruby with aromas of red fruits and clean spice. Palate shows flavors of red berry fruits, vanilla, spice, and licorice notes, vivid acidity. Firm tannins, medium finish ending with spice and fruit character. — 2 years ago
I love Spanish wines and Garnacha wines are a great value. This wine is inexpensive but burst with aromas and flavors that go beyond the price. It is vibrant and peppery. Excellent value wine. Great with cheese and crusty Cuban bread! Salud. 2019 vintage. — 4 years ago
Dark ruby red color. The nose is powerful: raspberries, chocolate and also leather. The mouthfeel is complex and balanced! The berries are immediately apparent, followed by savoryness, and hints of vanilla. The finish is long, intense, and full of round tannings but smooth as silk. Rioja, paella and Alejandro Sanz; can’t get more Spanish than that. And it may be the inspiration talking but this bottle is tasting as close to Rioja perfection as I’ve ever had. — 6 years ago

" The mix balance is freshness and depth. It opens with vivid aromas of blackberries, violets and licorice. The pallet is fleshly and rounded with a long and elegant finish" — 6 months ago
Wonderful nose & velvety flavor. Smooth, hood but not too sweet. Delicious…love it — 3 years ago
Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe red/black fruits with herbs, toast and sweet spice, aged for 24 months in American oak. On the palate flavors of ripe black cherry flavors with vanilla, oak and cacao notes, nice acidity balance with soft ripe tannins. Long finish ending with subtle fruit, tobacco, vanilla and toasty oak, drinking very well now! Still has room to age, but I think it’s great now. — 5 years ago

Napa Valley – California, USA 🇺🇸
Overview
Crafted from select Napa Valley vineyards, Lithology specializes in expressive, small-production Cabernet Sauvignon. The 2021 vintage exemplifies the lush, polished, and powerful style that has made Napa Cabs world-famous. (Educational note: Napa’s 2021 vintage was hailed for concentration and balance after a smaller-than-average crop, yielding wines of both richness and structure.)
Aromas & Flavors
Blackberry, cassis, and dark cherry dominate, with layers of mocha, vanilla, and cedar. Hints of violet, graphite, and baking spice add refinement.
Mouthfeel
Full-bodied, with an extraordinary, velvety texture. Luscious, layered, and mouth-coating, yet balanced by fine tannins and polished acidity. A true “show stopper” style with lingering intensity.
Food Pairings
Ideal with ribeye steak, braised short ribs, or grilled lamb. Also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes or aged hard cheeses.
Verdict
A bold, luxurious Napa Cab — expressive, concentrated, and texturally stunning. The 2021 Lithology is a modern classic, delivering both power and elegance in equal measure. 🍷

Sweet American oak, beautiful mature red-fruited Tempranillo, soft tannins, a little less acid than I remember in the 1980s/1990s vintages of this “regular” Pesquera Tinto, long, lingering finish, I’d guess this is mature and ready to drink!! — 2 months ago
