Blend of 85% Cab Sauv and 15% Merlot, with an impressive label designed by Mick Jagger’s daughter, Jade. Deep Ruby with aromas of dark berry fruit, spice and herb notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, plum and tart black cherry with currant and black pepper. Fine tannins, well balanced ending with smoky spice. Tasting well now, crack it out of cellar. — 3 days ago
Had a lovely visit here in early 2020 with Haley. I fee like these wines don’t get as much recognition as they should, especially based on the quality of the fruit and the wine.
I opened this and gave it a quick pour…first thought was it was just kind of there. Wasn’t expressive, but wasn’t flawed. About 15-30mins later, it finally blossomed. For me, I always get a distinct note out of Wight vineyard…normally a high toned cherry/sweetened raspberries and sometimes a kiss of eucalyptus. I got all of that here on both the nose and palate, just slightly toned down. At 15.3ABV for 2005, this was well balanced and integrated. After corking the remaining third and having for dinner, it sported a lot of cherry chewing tobacco with herbal crusted ripe black cherries. This is bridging the gap between new world and old at this point. Best to consume in the next couple years if you want that balanced profile. — 5 days ago
What a wine, one to have in your cellar for sure. Tonight I have opened the 2018 Château Branaire-Ducru Saint-Julien. A blend of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 4% Cabernet Franc.
On the nose is dark cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, chocolate, herbal notes, tobacco, violats, vanilla and dark earth.
On the palate is dark cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, herbaceousness, cedar, graphite, sweet tobacco and earth.
This beautiful wine is full bodied with a smooth silky mouthfeel, medium+ acidity and medium+ grippy mouthcoating tannin that fills your mouth with a long black & blue fruit earthy finish. This wine has a long life and can sit in your cellar for 20+ years. Keep enjoying the weekend and stay healthy and safe. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷 — 8 days ago
Blend of 54% Cab Sauv, 34% Merlot & 12% Cab Franc. Deep Ruby with aromas of pronounced dark fruits, sweet spice, floral and herb notes. On the palate flavors of blackberry, blueberry and plum with notes of cacao, cedar and subtle herb spice. Well balanced with acidity, fine tannins, long finish ending with fruit, cedar and earthy mineral character. Nice! — 11 days ago
A touch hot but otherwise an unpretentious and delicious right bank Bdx (80 merlot / 20 cab franc). Dark fruits—plums and blueberry—plus tobacco and plenty of earth and umami. Pair with anything roasted or grilled and a summer evening watching the fireflies — 3 days ago
Scarlet tawny with mostly clear rims. Barely translucent in the center. Impactful and exciting nose. Notes of black cherries, blueberries, cracked walnuts, cut Cuban cigar, some dry brush and a little camphor. Smooth in the mouth. The nose is so floral, which makes up for some fading fruit in the finish. I think this bottle was slightly past its peak given the drying fruit posture, but the nose and scents make up for it. — 14 days ago
@Josh Morgenthau inspired me to open one of these and wanted to check in on one with age. Glad I did. Preposterous nose of huge granite, lemon, some tropical fruits and exotic flowers. Amazing lime and lemon drop. Focused and round nose with such lovely granitic precision. Bit of honey and tree bark. Palate is rich and energetic with wonderful edgy and granite driven Marsanne minerality. Excellent acid and freshness and uncommon depth. Great purity. What grip. Best white wine value in all of the N. Rhone. — 2 days ago
