Altas Viñas Santa Barbara County Mourvedre Blend 2019

Lemony, crisp little but herbaceous, lovely and real freshly bottled. Delicious with food, but even better with good friends. — 6 days ago

Ex Post Facto

Santa Barbara County Syrah

We Coravin-ed this a while back, and I wish I would’ve checked in on the first glass. Oddly enough, it tastes lightly oxidized. …Notes of black cherry pie, raspberry jam, silky blueberry, and a cocoa finish. Dark red fruit throughout. Subtle black currant. A light herbaceousness I can’t quite place. Maybe oregano? Not as teeth-ripping as Orin Swift or Michael David Syrah, but easy to drink and good to pair. — 17 days ago

Sybarite Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara Sauvignon Blanc 2020

Outstanding value. This is acidic and tropical. Huge amount of flavor with some stone fruit, tart apple, not much grass at all, but well balanced. Margerum’s wines were some of my first in exploring SB terroir and this one reminds me of the excellence he had at wine cask. — 13 days ago

Koukou Crown Point Vineyard Cabernet Franc 2019

Hint of smoke….bitter(ish) fruit that works well…I enjoy the fact that this is a wine to drink at leisure.

Los Alamos Vineyard Pinot Noir 2015

This way over-delivers. Cranberry, black tea, bergamot, tobacco, camphor, dried mushrooms and a distinct loaminess. Perhaps a tad austere for the average bloke, with some elevated VA to boot. But this is a rather serious Pinot Noir with plenty of potential for extensive aging. I’m getting decidedly Old World vibes. — 22 days ago

Santa Barbara County Chardonnay 2018

Great value. This winery is always a solid choice for great value entry level wines. At $13, this would easily be double if it was from another area. — 23 days ago
