Beneventano IGT Falanghina 2018

Medium yellow with some greenish reflections. The nose is rich with an intense mix of apple, pineapple, and citrus. Fresh and clean with lime, green apple and a crushed stone minerality that adds depth. The medium length finish is clean and resonating with notes of pear, white pepper and honeysuckle. — a month ago

Pietra Della Volpe Aglianico 2007

When I opened this I knew nothing about the wine. Like it’s age - from the 2007 vintage. Or the grape - Aglianico. Or the depth. Lots of it.

Pours a brick purple, aromatics bursting. Cocoa, coffee, cedar, cigar smoke.

Beneventano Falanghina 2019

I have to say that this is a fantastic white Italian wine! 100% Falanghina. It was highly recommended at the wine store. I usually start the evening with a white then go to a red but I may end the evening with this one. Paired excellent with a seafood fettuccine that I’ve been dying to make. — a month ago

Feudi di San Gregorio

Sannio Falanghina 2017

Chartreuse pale. Zest of lemon with sweet round melon flavors. Needs a bit more avid for structure but goes well with grilled octopus. — 2 months ago

@Peter Sultan 😊 Thank you!!
Aglianico is IMO indeed a quite difficult cepage to understand and consequently love. I guess the good ones are just too few and also i reckon it is quite a hard task to pick the perfect moment, when the wine is at peak. We, in Italy, call the wines made from this varietal Barolo of the South for some reasons(see tannin and complexity) and ageing is a very important part of the process too.
However after you have a 1928 Taurasi which blows your mind away you can only search for more and wait for the next illumination 🙏 doesn't happen with all the grape varietal, does it?

Vento Greco 2015

Insanely good Greco. Aromatic, spicy, rich, saline, mineral-laden . . . This has just about everything going on. I’m giving an extra point simply because it’s dirt cheap. — 2 months ago

Sannio Aglianico 2017

Great value. Bold and brooding, earthy spicy and leathery balanced by blackberry fruit. Full-bodied and chewy, with a nice acidity to stand up to meaty ragus — 3 months ago
