Preta Falanghina 2021

Delectable Wine

The 2021 Falanghina del Sannio Preta is pretty and delicate in the glass. It wafts up with peach and dusty yellow floral aromas. This is pure and energetic, with bright acidity elevating crisp orchard fruits. Its minerality blends with a salty mineral flourish that comes through on the finish. $22.00 (Eric Guido, Vinous, August 2023) — 4 months ago

Svelato Falanghina del Sannio

Superb. Totally different white. Lots of structure. Worth finding to get a change from the blah. — 4 months ago

Flora Beneventano Falanghina 2021

So consistently good. Pineapple, baked apricot and golden raisin. Medium to full with stern acidity. I’ve found this wine is best at 3-5 years with a decant. So unique and original. Love the packaging. — a month ago

La Guardiense

Janare Falanghina del Sannio

No formal notes - from half bottle. I have always loved the rich flavoursome notes of Falanghina from the Campania region of Italy with notes of honeysuckle and pear. Impossible not to like. — 3 months ago

I like this ‘16 a bit better than I recall liking the ‘15 (which had screeching acids). Intense nose. Perfumey, with kids of crushed volcanic gravel, a deep animal fur note, spice, and oozy red berries. Deep in the mouth, it’s got tons of volcanic stone minerality, old leather, and plenty of macerated dark cherry underlying it. Acids are there but integrated. Still quite a bit of tannin chalkily coating the mouth. Will go great with the rustic pasta dish I’m making. — 6 months ago
