Nose has dried blueberries, blueberry jam, mashed blackberry, sun scorched soil, wet green herbals and slight alcohol heat.
Palate has rich, ripe blackberry, ripe black cherry, cocoa powder, anise, dry sandy soil with mild tannins. Nice acidity, medium finish.
The 1/5 addition of Sagrantino is perfect, really adding some depth to the nose and palate. We still have a few of these, suggest holding until 2023+ for future bottles.
Blend of 80% Sangiovese / 20% Sagrantino.

Blind Date wine! Blind tasting notes: "Bright ruby red, candied red fruits, jolly rancher and bubble gum. Low acid, low tannin, slightly effervescent. The food pairing suggestion makes us think Italy, but the fruitiness and low acid and tannin makes us think Not Italy." Soooo tasty with a BLT and pasta salad with tomato and basil. — 12 days ago
Nose has black cherry compote, recently sanded cedar, muddy garden soil and wet green herbals.
Palate has partially dried black cherry, blackberry, over-ripe black currant, crushed slate, medium tannins show this wine is still youthful.
A delicious wine showing lovely concentration and aromatics, rustic in style but high-minded as well. Drinking fantastic tonight, likely much better 2024+, might be hard to keep the remaining corks sealed for that long...

Castello di Amorosa Voyager Vineyard Napa Valley Sangiovese 2018, California
Ruby in color with a wide reddish rim. A pretty color.
On the nose cooked cherries, plums, currants, earth, herbs, oak, vanilla, licorice, light vegetables, spices, tobacco leaf, a touch of honeysuckle and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with blueberries, sweet cherries, plums, oak, light tobacco, vanilla, dark chocolates, pencil lead, earth, herbs, coffee and peppercorn.
Tangy finish with soft tannins.
This is a very interesting red wine from Napa Valley. Tangy and elegant. Complex and soft.
Fruit-forward and better with food. A good quality wine that will age nicely in the next 10 years.
Still young and will be interesting to try it again in 3 years.
This Single Vineyard needs time to open up. I gave it 2 hours to let it show the complexity.
100% Sangiovese grapes were aged for 18 months in (35% New) French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.

On the nose scents of black cherry are accompanied by clove, flowers, and some tar. Flavors of black cherry and earth are backed by medium, well integrated tannins, making this extremely light in the palate and easy to drink. Finishes with black cherry and cocoa.

A fantastic value. — 3 days ago
A wine I have had many times but my 1st time having it next to the Poggio Sotto. The Soldera is a completely different Brunello showing lots of cherry, strawberry fruits, leather, spice with floral tones in an elegant & silky style, complex & layered that reminds me of what Burlotto’s Monvigliero is to Barolo. Always a Burgundy lovers Brunello! — 9 days ago
Past notes apply, but let's go through the motions. Decanted for 45 minutes. Nose: Tobacco, pine needles, soil, and a cherry base. Deep ruby in color, medium plus bodied, medium plus alcohol, medium acidity. More red cherry emerges on the palate, and pipe tobacco... More precisely, my dad's Captain Black from the 1980s. Taste not quite as complex as the smell. Finish is medium. Tannins are perfectly centered. This just misses my 94 point threshold.
