This was an excellent wine drunk at a great age. You can really notice the cab franc in the blend this year — some nice bell pepper notes! — 16 days ago
I will start by say this is my favorite wine. Having 5 different vintages including the stellar 1990 This is no exception. 98+pts on this beautiful wine. Fragrant nose of fruits with some Brie cheese. Deep rich black fruit gives way to black pepper and earthy tones(mushrooms and some olive). Still with medium acidity and long finish. Close to perfection in a bottle — 6 days ago
2011. Very interesting up or down reviews on this wine. Several mention funky notes, where I tasted none. Several noted high tannins, where maybe mine had mellowed. Body was a little thin and it did take over an hour to start opening up, but I paired it with some Indian takeout and it paired great! — 7 days ago
Good price at warehouse so I snagged one for wiener schnitzel dinner w/ cateloupe, prosciutto, radicchio &fig salad. Opened to give it a lot of air. Cream soda dum dum, Fuji apple, hint of gasoline but not a lot. Goes onto a grapefruit/citrus thing and a nice cream soda finish. Mineral and wonderfully acidic. Need to find older bottles! — 11 days ago
Popped and poured; enjoyed over three hours. Pours a dark ruby with a transparent core. Medium+ viscosity, medium+ intensity. On the nose, Twin Bing, roses, alpine air, forest floor, tar, and a small dash of baking spices. On the palate, mixed red fruits, blood orange pith, tobacco, and fresh green herbs. Quite a bit rounder than I’m used to for Barolo but it’s undeniably a charmer. The finish is very long, bone dry. Yes…this is very becoming indeed! Medium+ tannin, medium+ acid, medium + alcohol. Hedonistic and drinking so well now. — 10 days ago
1.5 hour decant(decent chunky/cloudy sediment). A delightful deep murky dark garnet color with slight bricking. On the nose: Nice muted nose of forest floor, cigar, strawberry, burnt coffee, floral, start of that sweet aged perfume. Taste: smooth, fresh, medium body wine with big cassis, earthy, minerals, plum, crushed rocks, and spiced tobacco medium plus finish.....still a little austere and thin on the end with some unresolved tannins. Will it come together with more time?
Confession: these notes may not be reliable......bought a case of this off vintage wine.....going to like it whether I did or not — 21 hours ago
Signed Magnum! 1hr plus decant. Dark red color. Very fruit forward with red and black fruit. Modest oak. Medium depth. More sweet than tannic. Paired perfectly with smoked short ribs. Would have loved other elements than just fruit, but it worked nicely! — 4 days ago
