2017 vintage. Last tasted 8.8.24 (9.4), 3.15.22 (9.4) and 8.27.21 (9.4). IIRC…95% Merlot, 5% Cab Franc. Medium body. Lost a little weight and oak influence. Consequently, many of the overt, feminine influences so noticeable the last few years, have retreated a tad. More prominent dark chocolate and earthy tones currently. The new red BDX Coravin pour at $50 a glass. 5.7.26. — 17 days ago
just got back from Bordeaux and the Périgord. I brought some treats from the area to share with friends and just grabbed this wine out of my cellar. This wine was drinking great, very full bodied with dark cherry, plum, and cassis. Also, a bit tobacco, cedar, licorice and leather all around. Everyone commented how great this was drinking. Got to find some more. — 4 hours ago
Poured into a decanter about an hour prior to service. The 1983 pours a deep, slightly hazy garnet color with a near opaque core; medium viscosity with moderate staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark cherry, blackberry, dried purple flowers, Poblano pepper, coffee, beef roast, earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin (integrated) and medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+. This bottle of the 1983 was absolutely singing tonight and I found it to be a lovely pairing with braised pheasant. Drink now through 2033+. — a month ago

The nose opens with waves of ripe black cherry, cassis, plum liqueur, and dark chocolate Beneath the opulence lies impressive complexity with hints of espresso, violets, and peppery spice emerge gradually with air. The palate is dense and supple, showing warmth and generosity. Plenty of nuance beneath the lavish fruit.
Possibly the best value for a St-Emilion GCC. Will need to seek out more. — 9 days ago
