The 2016 Kongsgaard Chardonnay is a sensational wine that is showing its full-throttle decadence now at the four year mark. Once on the nose this takes on layers of vanilla Creme brûlée and butterscotch woven together with mango and pineapple upside down cake that all meld together in the glass. The palate is silky smooth and wonderfully viscous. Ripe banana and roasted pineapple intermingle with baking spice infused challah bread, and Meyer lemon creme brûlée flavors. Gorgeous to enjoy in its youth, this beautiful Chardonnay will cellar well for more than a decade to come. Drink 2020-2035- 95 — 2 months ago
The mythical unicorn #rosewine from @lopezdeherediaoficial: Vina Tondonia Gran Reserva Rosado 2008.
A friendly wine retailer I am close with sold me a few bottles at regular price thankfully as I gave him the heads up it was coming. (He also sold his others at regular price!) This wine used to be easily available during its last release, the 2000 vintage back around 2005, not to mention super reasonable in price. An unfortunate victim of fashion, the secondary market pricing on this starts around $200 and goes up to $300.
Pale copper and deep pink in color, the hue here is as it looks here turning more orange at the rim. The nose showed as it should for an extended barrel aged wine, showing clear notes the toll oxidation has taken with time in wood. Though, the wood aromas are well-integrated and intermingle well with dried red fruits, ginger and spice, and a clear sense of minerality which is all laid well into the thick and pungent nose. The palate shows more precision and tension in the densely textured and flavored med/med+ body of the wine. Finishes long and fans out wide over the palate. For sure about as unique a rose as there is out there. — 2 years ago
Undeniably delicious and juicy, but still has plenty going on beneath the surface. Throughout the course of the bottle, secondary aromas of stem and herbs intermingle with sweet florals, funky mineral and dusty earth. Ridiculous value at $20 and an absolute standard bearer for Bay Area natty juice. I wish this was just available everywhere, any time. — 2 years ago

This is an interesting wine but initially surprisingly ungainly. Needs an hour to become what it is. And what It is is lovely.
Nose is freshly cut Grass on a mountain. Full on Julie Andrews in sound of music. The grass and the wild blackberries intermingle so well it’s almost like they are having Coitus.
Day 2 has some lovely mountain pine on the nose.
Palate is more if that fresh grass and wild berry fruit. Silky tanins. Brilliant freshness. Juicy.
This is a red wine that almost should be drunk like a white wine. It will work. And you will be super cool. Bravo for you.
Also a great change of pace for those suffering from ennui. The plague of the leisure class these days. Alas.

"intense cherry color and with purple glints. Complex nose, with supple oak notes that intermingle with ripe fruit. Long and remarkably toasty finish. Best decanted" — 7 months ago
Pine-lined pond and glass factory notes intermingle with spearmint, red plum, and blackberry-grape that injects itself into the forest and emerges black currant, while pulling all the aforementioned behind her. Natural and clean aromatics here with cinnamon the only oak influence. Smooth but dense opening, bringing dark chocolate, black Darjeeling, intense graphite behind cassis, mint-pencil, vanilla infused tobacco, burnt raisin, walnut, and black sesame. Liquid, astral beauty in a bottle. Magnificent. #cornerstonecellars #napavalley2012 #Napa #wine #cab #cabernetsauvignon #cabsauv4life #cawine #2012vintage — 2 years ago
Consumed 06/2020. It has generous layers of red and black fruit. On the pallet, flavors of briar, black currant and Cassis intermingle with subtle notes of cigarbox. Balanced, integrated tannins balanced by lush fruits on the lengthy finish. — 4 months ago
I shared this amazing gem with my friend on her birthday in front of the vino Bello at the onset of Covid isolation. This wine delivered (as it should for the price) on all fronts. Med + body and acid. Tannins were so smooth and integrated they just wrapped your tongue in velvet. Ripe berries on the nose and palate intermingle with soft lilac and a hint of herbaceousness. Nice long finish. The only thing wrong was we didn't have a second bottle because the one went down so easy. — 7 months ago
lush Merlot fruit and its spicy Cabernet character, Magari expresses the essence of Bolgheri, rich and well-rounded, with an elegant, silky finish.
Bolgheri Rosso Magari is a dark, rich and exuberant wine that so faithfully reflects that unique Gaja signature. There's nothing not to love here. The wine drinks beautifully and smoothly, caressing all the senses with sensual silkiness. The 2015 vintage delivers plump and extra supple fruit that further underlines the house style at Ca' Marcanda. Dark berries and spice intermingle with seamless intensity. The wine offers firm grip and long-lasting power on the finish. This is Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot.

The 2015 Magari is more herbal and darker fruited, with terrific minerality in its blackcurrants, black cherries, spring flowers, and earthy aromas and flavors. Medium-bodied, seamless, and elegant on the palate, with fine tannin, it’s going to keep for a decade or more. The blend is 60% Cabernet Franc — 2 years ago
One of the outstanding values in grower champagne. Tasted from 375 ml, disgorged 6/4/17. Excellent balance between richness and linearity. Floral and chalk elements intermingle wonderfully with brioche and hazelnut. — 3 years ago
