2016 opened July 2022. Earth, tobacco, old books on the nose. Heavy red fruit along with a soft tannic structure on the front of the palate. Gravelly high notes an the middle palate, but it has a slightly sour finish. Very drinkable, but not great. — 23 days ago
Petit go-to Bordeaux bien fait — 2 months ago
Just needed time, both in storage and decant. Better on the 2nd day
Some historical stuff I found online,
The Chateau Caronne Ste. Gemme property has been making wine since the French Revolution and has existed since the mid 1600's. Now in the hands of the Nony family, who is related to the Borie family of multi-chateau fame, the estate is in excellent hands.
The vines average about thirty years of age and are located in the southwest corner of Saint Julien. The grapes are fermented in cement vats where they also undergo malolactic fermentation. From there they're aged in one third new French oak for one year before bottling. — 13 days ago
Really pleasant left bank Bordeaux. — 2 days ago
Poured through an aerator and sat for 15 minutes…
NOSE: strong, clear cassis. Meat. Pine, forest. Very mild chocolate and a little ash - and some raisin - but the cassis dominates.
Taste: medium weight, elegant, fruity bordeaux, with enough tannin to balance it perfectly - as on the nose, cassis and dark berry flavors dominate, but with a good herbal backbone. Simpler than I’d hoped, but just so very well made it doesn’t matter. Would love to taste this in a few years. 92. — a month ago
This is one beautiful wine. I opened the 2010 Château Haut-Bages Libéral. Pauillac 5th Growth Château from the Left Bank Bordeaux. The blend is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot.
On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, mocha, mint, herbs, smokey camp fire, cedar, crushed gravel and earth.
On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, herbs, smoeky oak, graphite and earth.
This is a wonderful full bodied wine with a fresh creamy mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + mouthcoating polished tannins with a very expressive long red & black fruit graphite finish. I hope everyone's weekend has been eventful and I wish everyone a wonderful week ahead. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷 — a day ago

Alexandre Pagliano
Dark, blackish robe, nose of asphalt, black cherries, anise and flowers. Medium bodied and rich but not overdone. Lots of Merlot here but good share of Cabernet too, like 60/40 I guess. Very classical in style and most pleasant, we liked it a great deal. — 22 days ago
