La Gemella Barbera d'Alba 2019

Loved this wine. Not sure if it’s intentional but it has some perfectly balanced off flavors like diactyl and acetic acid. It makes it super complex with lots of dark fruit, a slight buttery taste and an acidic bite. One of the best wines I’ve had in a long time. — 2 days ago

Il Roncat Monte dei Carpini Pignolo 2016

My first experience with a Friulian Pignolo...Wow..what a simply perfect pasta/pizza wine. Nice bright berry red color... medium weight on the palate...smoke, BlackBerry fruit, sweet red fruit and brilliant lively acidity...perfect foil to red tomato sauce and sausage pizza. Only problem being that the balance, refreshment quotient, and cravability mean a single 750 is not enough. Lost the battle w/wife for last swallow! What a great bargain for Saturday night red sauce! — 24 days ago

Riserva Franzisca Barrosu Cannonau di Sardegna 2017

9.0

Really nice concentration - almost amarone-like, with dried fruit, raisins, dates. Delicious tho - even at 15.5% abv, pretty darn balanced. — 20 days ago

Castelletto Barolo Nebbiolo 2010

Cherry jolly rancher/twizzler on nose with delicious rd fruit/leather that has great length. Tannins rough on first taste (pop and taste)but smoothed out 2 hours after opening. Delicious. Few bottles left and has at least 5 years to peak. Do not drink another until at least 2022. — 3 days ago

Buon Padre Barolo Nebbiolo 2016

A classic Barolo. This young version profited from a round in the decanter. Lots of tannins which goes well with cheese — 8 days ago

Ronchi Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2016

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2016 Barbaresco Ronchi, the estate’s top selection, marries elegance with power so well. Freshly cut flowers, mint, sweet red berries, anise and blood orange confer freshness that plays off the wine’s dense, expansive fruit. A rush of sweet raspberry, cherry and rose petal punctuates the exuberant finish. The 2016 is a fabulous wine from a property that has been on the ascent in recent years. Barbaresco Nebbiolo 2017

Delectable Wine
9.1

The 2017 Barbaresco is pliant, open-knit and very easy to like. Sweet red cherry, orange peel, cinnamon and star anise give the 2017 a decidedly exotic quality to play of its curvy personality. All the elements come together so effortlessly. The 2017 is beautifully done. This is such a pretty wine. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, October 2020) — 5 days ago

La Rocca Garganega 2016

Colour was dark yellow already, the wine is fresh and it has enough acidity and fruit to age another 3-6 years min. Great wine but p/q - — 21 days ago

Rocca delle Macìe

Famiglia Zingarelli Chianti Classico Sangiovese Blend

Sangiovese 90%
Colorino 5%
Cabernet Sauvignon 5%.
Didnt think the DOC allowed non- native varietals. Anyway, cherry galore. 14.5 alcohol/ a bit surprising. Little tannic on the finish by itself, but shines with roasted chicken.

Rocca di Frassinello

Maremma Toscana SuperTuscan Blend

Rocca di frassinello is made from the grapes varieties: 60% sangiovese/20% merlot/ 20% C/S. This wine has much more potential then the Poggio Valente (=100% sangiovese) and Crognolo (=90% sangiovese/10% merlot). — 21 days ago
