Delicious! — 19 days ago
Enjoyed this wine with a wonderful dinner of eggplant stuffed ravioli and fillet mignon in Noci, Italy. Garnett color with cocoa, raspberry and plum on the nose and palate and hints of black pepper on the finish. Elegant and lovely. — 12 days ago
Notes of musky forest — a month ago
Opened and decanted for a couple of hours prior to service after which, it was enjoyed over a few hours. No formal notes. This bottle of 2000 Giovanni Rosso Barolo “Cerretta” currently pours a deep garnet color with a mostly transparent core. There is some sediment present but we were able to decant most of it off. This is a vinous wine displaying dried red fruits, leather, tar, mushrooms and spices. The structure is still firm but the tannins are fairly integrated at this point. The attack is perceptively sweet and the finish is long and satisfying; perhaps a touch hot. This is drinking well right now and well stored examples should hold through 2030. — 2 months ago

Deep woods, dirt, blood, on the nose . Lots of blue/red fruits. A bit tight, I PnP, gave it a good 45 mins out. I get some wood… now that could be my weird post covid mouth….or not.
A ‘16 from Castelletto, lush and forward, but I sense lots of aging potential. I have 1 more. No rough edges, a bit of acidity on the back which is nice and lifting.
Tannins nicely integrated and fine. Manzone’s site only indicates neutral casks, not what wood specifically.
