Delicious. Decently pronounced but not overwhelming tannins, a very savory and slightly funky profile. Paired equally well with alligator sauce piquante and a sopresetta Neapolitan pizza. — 6 years ago
Smokey and a little funky — 7 years ago
Really needs some time in the decanter, wound up super tight. Funky earthy nose with sour cherry and topsoil, very fleshy, rustic body of blue and red fruits, a bit of red bell pepper, bakers chocolate, loads of pencil shavings, a faint suggestion of spruce. Really crunch skeleton with serious, almost saline minerality. Fruit fades before the minerals and earth. Really complex. Give it plenty of air and a long ponder. — 7 years ago
This is just an annoyingly good wine. This has so much going on and yet it is so gulpable. This wine is fermented on its skins with the native yeast in ancient amphorae, giving a beautiful dank, earthy, musky dried floral aromatic. Sour wild cherries, slight brown sugar, a touch of red licorice, and stunning high toned cranberry-like acidity. Nothing is lost here. It has earth and fruit mixing beautifully. This wine truly is the epitome of my favorite descriptor of wine: funky fresh. I think I’m in love with this Cos lineup. — 8 years ago
Funky, barnyard nose, but also sweet, like lily. Saddle and graphite. No tannins at all. Delicious grenache. — 8 years ago
Funky, very fruity. Like a cherryade. Enjoyable and interesting. — 3 years ago
We like it! Funky and frizzy — 6 years ago
Yummy, funky, drinkable, and lovely! Got the cool smokey and green nose, tannins appear quick, green. Acid. But also this subtlety integrated fruit. I like! — 7 years ago
Funky, but not crazy. Really nice. — 7 years ago
Very funky on the nose, after decanting funk mellowed out. Acidic, mineral forward, barnyard juice. Geuze-like — 8 years ago
Funky natural red with sediment — 8 years ago
A super interesting and fun Greek orange. A “true” orange, in that’s its funky and musty (but clean!) and really full. Baked baking spices, clementine, high acidity and a few bubbles that cut through nicely. — 8 years ago
This tasting great now. Nose is funky barnyard with violets and smashed cherries and plums. Palate is much bigger than I was expecting with tons of stone, funk, raspberries, dark cherries, olives, and lovely lingering finish of cherries and strawberry. — 5 years ago

This is funk on funk on funk. I thought it was a fantastic bottle. Not a light Gamay by any stretch of the imagination. On the nose this reeks of hay and barnyard with a wet stone note. Fantastic tart red fruit on the pallet with a wonderful lingering finish. if you are not into funky natural wines this may not be the bottle for you. But given the style of the producer I felt this fell fantastically into the style of wine that Souhaut makes. — 6 years ago

Cherries. Super fun. A bit funky. Great with our mutton. Would happily drink this all the time in the summer... or anytime, really. — 8 years ago
Fizzy cherry cola, funky and super high acidity. A total buzz bomb, really wild tasting. Honeysuckle and pickled strawberry and balsamic. Medium bodied. — 8 years ago

Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of two days. Both days outstanding but slightly different experiences. Day 1 was about power. Day 2 was about balance. The 2020 “Cuvée Réservée” pours a brilliant garnet with a translucent core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears. On the nose, the wine is developing with heady, slightly funky notes of ripe brambles, garrigue, red & purple flowers, bacon fat, licorice, and dry rocky earth. On Day 2, everything was more open nit and the fruit showed more bruised with a slightly stewed profile. Lavender was the predominate floral profile too. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannin medium+ acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is long. This is textbook Pégau and I love it. Drink now through 2045+ — 5 months ago
