Deep gold color. Motor oil weight in the glass. Happy to find the nose has some interesting notes and doesn’t signal the wine is too advanced. Candied apricot. Kiwi fruit, apple slices, pebble stones, sweet lemon. Good structure. Great finish. Maybe just a hint oxidized but overall a great old white burg experience. — 15 days ago

Nose reveals macerated fruits of; green apples, pineapple, sour & macerated lemon, limes, kiwi, white peach, golden apple, candle /beeswax, understated white spice, limestone & volcanic powder, sea fossils & spray, caramel, vanillin, light herbaceousness, mint, yeast, bread dough, notes of melted brown sugar with white flowers, jasmine and yellow lilies.

The mouthfeel is lush & beautiful. The mousse so soft. The acidity is finely focused & lively. Slightly less (than the nose) macerated fruits notes of; green apples, pineapple, sour & macerated lemon, limes, kiwi, white peach, golden apple, candle /beeswax, understated white spice with perfect razor blade penetration on the tongue, Fine limestone & grey volcanic powder, sea fossils & spray, melted caramel, vanillin, light herbaceousness, mint, yeast, bread dough, used wood presence, notes of melted brown sugar with brighter white flowers, jasmine, mixed greens, and yellow lilies than the nose.

Beautiful texture and balance. A richness but super bright and great lift with the acid that hits you at the mid palate and takes you through to the finish. Taste like a zesty Napoleon dessert (cream, kiwi, apricot).

Meursault Chardonnay 2002

Medium gold. Sweet fruity nose. Notes of lemon, apricot, tan spice, quince and some kiwi fruit. Very rich in the mouth with fine grain acidity lingering in the finish. This has evolved significantly over the past 10 years, leaving behind the early telltale Coche attributes of crushed stone and petrol notes. It’s in a great spot right now, and given how it’s evolved I’m going to be drinking my remaining bottles up in the next couple of years. — 10 days ago
