A very pretty color of dark ruby, with a wide reddish rim.
Nice nose of blueberries, violets, blackberries, black cherries, light oak, vanilla, chocolates, licorice, spices, black pepper, earth and pencil lead. Very enjoyable nose.
Medium plus in body with medium acidity.
Dry on the palate with cherries, strawberries, red currants, spices, earth, tobacco leaf, herbs, dark chocolates, coffee and peppercorn.
Medium plus on the finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries.
This is a very nice and easy drinking Petite Sirah from California. Showing mild complexity with a nice mouthfeel. Nice and tangy. Spicy, smooth and elegant.
Interesting to see black fruits on the nose and red fruits on the palate. I really enjoyed the nose.
Needs 30 minutes of airtime, and good by itself or with food. Would be nice to revisit it in a couple of years.
I paired it with salami and cheddar cheese.
13.9% alcohol by volume.

Very nice. A deep red, went well with Chuck roast. Good flavor, not too much tannin. Repeat depending on price — 20 days ago

#6 on WS top 100 wines of 2007.
2 hour decant (decent chunky sediment). A dazzling dark ruby red color. On the nose: perfumed nose, black fruit, menthol, earthy, green veggie, graphite. Taste: a smooth and silky wine with dark fruit, spice, earthy, and a cherry pencil lead medium plus slightly tannic finish. Still just a little young and slightly austere...it will be better with a few more years on it. But with the decant, it will be enjoyed over the next couple hours this Saturday night! Cheers! — 13 days ago
La version 2018 est excellente! Rond juste assez, corsé et goûteux juste assez, quel équilibre ! À refaire ! — 5 days ago
Deep ruby-red. Oak-spiced cherry and black raspberry aromas pick up a smoky nuance with air. Smooth, sappy and focused on the palate, offering subtly sweet red and dark berry flavors that deepen through the back half. Finishes velvety, gently tannic and long, leaving sappy raspberry and cherry notes behind. In a distinctly lush style but this Pinot doesn't lack for energy. A lot to like. A fine example of Northern Rhône inspired CA Syrah. Early days. Looking forward to what the future holds. — 13 days ago
ALH put the finishing touches to its new profile with the 2017 vintage, in which a focus on terroir, ripeness and judicious use of oak resulted in reductive-style, austere reds with palates dominated by freshness and a linear feel. Bright purple in the glass, with austere aromas reminiscent of herbs and cherry that fade on the chalky palate. Progresses in a linear fashion in the mouth, presenting a vertical complexion that leaves behind juice and a lengthy, herbal finish. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, October 2020) — 16 days ago
