Lovely Pinot noir that’s more rustic and less fruity in taste than other Californian producers but it’s a good wine to enjoy on its own or with some nice roast ham.
Overtones do have some plum and light fruits so it will tickle those tastebuds. — 3 years ago
2007. I asked the sommelier about the 2007 Alban Viognier and he said that he had opened a bottle last week but hadn’t poured any yet. Definitely the color shows some age, but the flavors and aromas were Viognier. — 3 months ago
A bit of air is needed for it to show the savory meaty quality. The juice is well balanced and not showing any heat even @ 15.6 abv — a year ago
Medium ruby color.
Aromas of red fruit, licorice.
Dry. Flavors of cassis, soft vanilla, licorice, blackberry leaf. Rich, velvety tannins. Juicy!

I have wanted to do Alban side by side with Rostaing with a well seasoned Tri-tip. Tonight is the night.
The crowd that leans California liked the French better.
I have always thought Alban in the new world mimicked Rostaing’s style.
Both phenomenal and I enjoyed both for slightly different climate & soil reasons.
These two producers do Syrah without the heavy smoked meats & bacon fat of say Cayuse. — 15 days ago
