Savennières Chenin Blanc 2018

Really like this Wine, tasted 6 months ago, aging great. Pale lemon with ripe white fruits and wet stone aromas. On the palate ripe apple & peach, very complex, lively acidity. Long finish ending with mineral and sweet honey character. should continue to age, but great now! When I get a bottle I just can’t leave it in the cellar!! — 17 days ago

Trie Spéciale Savennières Chenin Blanc 2000

Our experience with aged Savennières is maybe 2-3 bottles - we typically drink recent vintages - so my frame of reference is non-existent. We opened a 2016 of the regular Baumard, for uh, science. The cork came out beautifully, never would have guessed it was 20 years old. Poured a deep golden color, like a sauternes or a 10-year old scotch. The nose is rich in character, highlighted with apples and honey. The mouth is amazing. Slightly oxidative, baked apples and pears, apricots, nectarines and honey. Acidity is perfect, and the finish lasts for what seems like an eternity. Aged Savennières is definitely polarizing, with the Mrs. thinking it is way past. I think this is a fantastic wine and am happy I don't have to share! Compared to the 2016, it's hard to tell these are the same grape. I feel like this would pair really well with smoked trout, popcorn or french fries. — 6 months ago

Quarts de Chaume Chenin Blanc 2005

Absolutely lovely. Plush mouthfeel, pure orange marmalade with that bitter kick at the end that comes with all the tasty chewy rind bits. So long. Wonderful. — a month ago

Clos de la Folie Anjou Cabernet Franc 1876

Vintage 2018 | textbook Cabernet Franc, light colour, with - my opinion 🤨 - frivolous smell, bell pepper in positive sense, minerals. Taste with interesting balance between acidity and some candy impression. Love it for a weekdays wine. Anjou could be ultimately stubborn a generation ago, in the hands of a talented winegrower cabfranc can give lots of joy and even become magic. | paired with mixed vegatables and venison ( I am happy) — 5 months ago

Fidès Savennières Chenin Blanc 2013

17.5. Savennieres doesn’t get much better. This has more acidity than the usual Baumard or Joly, but lots of fruit, v long. Could hold 5+ years. — a year ago

Crémant de Loire Brut Rosé

From the harvest 2011 | Decent Cremant from Blancs de Blancs and Blancs de Noirs from Savennieres and Rochefort. Great balance. Vibrant. Paired very well with Peking Duck. — 4 months ago

Clos du Papillon Savennières Chenin Blanc 2006

I sacrilegiously had this chambré. Sorry. HOWEVER, it was fantastic, the acidity was still on show (I'd have been open to more) and pears had become almonds honey and roses. Long finish, complex, dry, satisfying. Definitely stick it in the garage for an hour or two first. — 8 months ago

It sure is Peter. I have to say I'm still quite a fan of the less austere and more oxidative/leesy styles that have been coming out of Sav for a while too. Its just great to see Chenin being treated in so many different and creative ways up and down the Loire.
