2021 spring / summer. Nice, bright, refreshing Chablis - I think this is a new appellation for Soeur Cadette. — a year ago

This might be my first wine from Vézelay, at least as much as I can recall. I wasn’t looking for a Vézelay when I dropped into my local, rather I was looking for a Chablis to bring to a tasting. My local wasn’t really happy with his Chablis selection and recommended this instead; a northern white Burgundy of another kind.
The wine poured a bright straw color with medium viscosity and no signs of particles or gas. The nose: medium+ intensity with notes that would describe Carmen Miranda’s fruit headdress. Star fruit, mango, and pineapple…like ripping open a pack of tropical Starburst. After some time, the nose evolves to include lemon verbena. On the nose, again tropical fruit with pineapple, lemoncello, and steely minerals. Acid is medium+ and finish is medium and satisfying. In the end, this wasn’t a perfect substitute for Chablis but it was certainly fun and something I would be happy to drink again, assuming this is indicative of other wines from the region. — 10 months ago
