Bernard Burgaud

Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2021

Lyle Fass
9.7

I love 21. Utterly classic but young nose of red berries, granite and a youthful grapiness. Some florals as well but a bit of a monolith aromatically out of the gates. More notes later as it opens up on the nose. Palate is so elegant my goodness and has that youthful grapiness. Huge red and darker berry fruit, perfect balance, clarity and purity. So juicy and clean but young but obviously very high quality. More notes as it evolves. Nose now closed at 3 hours but palate has gained finesse and it’s ultra juicy and pure. Finish is clipped but this is the whole package. This has a semi opulent midpalate one can get lost in. Wow. Incredible decadent Pomerol (lafleur?) fruit. Just insane. So elegant. This is the best Burgaud ever. — 7 days ago

Domaine Bernard Defaix

Chablis Chardonnay 2022

Super solid entry level organic Chablis. Green tree fruits, citrus, seashells, and bread dough.
Light to medium bodied with some texture from lees aging. This region has been through some tough vintages, so it’s easy to pay a lot more for a lot less.

2007 | Chardonnay
Domaine Daniel-Etienne Defaix; Côte de Léchet 1er Cru
Burgundy; Chablis, France

Brief decant at 60m, this is an ideal bottle of Léchet; lemon zest, saline, minerals, seashells, just lovely.

This 2007 is at its peak, and so different from 2006, which is waning. Amazing wine!

Domaine Bernard Moreau & Fils

Chassagne-Montrachet Chardonnay 2017

Brief notes. Good acid, a little sulphidic funk - light to medium weight palate. Quite lean, more grapefruit than stone fruit. A faint oak influence. A saline note amongst the minerality. 2017 not a bad year for white Burgundy. — 2 months ago
