Château Croizet Bages

Château Haut-Bages Libéral

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

This is one beautiful wine. I opened the 2010 Château Haut-Bages Libéral. Pauillac 5th Growth Château from the Left Bank Bordeaux. The blend is 72% Cabernet Sauvignon and 28% Merlot.

On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black plum, black currant, mocha, mint, herbs, smokey camp fire, cedar, crushed gravel and earth.

On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, blueberry, black currant, herbs, smoeky oak, graphite and earth.

This is a wonderful full bodied wine with a fresh creamy mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + mouthcoating polished tannins with a very expressive long red & black fruit graphite finish. I hope everyone's weekend has been eventful and I wish everyone a wonderful week ahead. Please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia! 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2018

Delectable Wine
9.5

The 2018 Grand Puy Lacoste has a quintessential Pauillac nose of intense black fruit infused with graphite scents, pencil shavings and a very discreet marine influence. It is beautifully defined, less opulent than the 2018 Lynch Bages tasted alongside, yet maybe more complex. The palate is medium-bodied and taut, offering sappy black fruit, gritty tannins and a lot of crushed stone. The focused, graphite-driven finish could only come from this appellation. Superb. A wine to correct those bemoaning that Bordeaux no longer makes "proper Claret." (Neal Martin, Vinous, March 2021)

Viña Errazuriz

Viñedo Chadwick Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2007

Well this was interesting. Tasting after eachother:
Lynch Bages 2009
Sena 2007
Chadwick 2007
In all honesty I hope the LB is just in a numb phase. It didnt do the trick yet. Still has a lot of acids whilst drinking. The nose however is great but taste wise it doesnt match.
Sena is as Sena can be. In your face! Plenty of everything: blackfruit, sweet, ripe, some wood, umami always. Very yummi.
Then the Chadwick that is close to perfection. That is Sena but distinguished. Calm but present. Lush and you taste it for minutes.

Nice comparison! LB is infanticide, Martijn, just keep it. Try within 5 years. 😏

Château Lynch-Bages

Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Dark ruby center with lighter tawny rims. Not quite opaque. Nose is quiet at first and doesn't bloom until 3+ hours in a decanter. Notes of dark fruit, tobacco, leather saddle, barnyard ground, some stones and minerals, brush-like spice and some mocha. Seductive in the mouth. Great balance between very present fruit with good structure and softened tannins. Haven't had this in awhile, and this wine still is hitting it out of the park. At peak but it'll be around for the long haul. Started out second to the 94 Dominus and then took the race by a nose in the stretch. — 10 days ago

Total sleeper of a producer. 8ha producer sandwiched between Lynch Bages, Pichon Lalande, and Latour. Perfectly mature with a charming rusticity all too rare in 90s Pauillac. — 2 years ago

On the nose blackberry, cocoa blueberry, and earth.
Flavors of blackberry, earth, tar, cocoa, and espresso. Tannins are firm, but in balance with the wine. Long finish, with black fruit and earth.

Very fun comparing to the lynch bages. This one needs a little more time. Straight pepper bomb with an extremely tannic finish. — 3 years ago
