Nice single vineyard from Calera. Restrained, almost tight at first. Rosebuds, red berries, clove cigarettes. This wine has minerality and acidity and feels oh so French. Like licking raspberry juice off a rock. I think we opened it early - still very enjoyable but can go a while more in the cellar. — 10 months ago

Aroma with complexity including strawberry, plum, skin of tree. 7 years would make it much better. Acidic. 2016 @1300, Xuheng - Eric T, 230218-230220 — 10 months ago
Couldn't find entry, logging Stella Sonoma Coast Pinot 2017 here: 225 and Calera clones. Elevated acidity, med tannins. Cola nuts, faint herbs, red plums, blackberry, med+/elevated concentration, overripe strawberry, black tea bag, lavender, tomato, stony characters. ~13% abv. 2017 was super hot in Sonoma, >100 degree heat spikes in June-July cause vines to shut down, rapid ripening more akin to Oregon of erratic growing season (whereas usually California boasts of constant long growing season). Gravel loam soil. 10-40% whole cluster, hand punchdowns, stem inclusion. Foot treaded. WC raises pH as high acid -> more stem inclusion to balance the pH. Failla picks on pH at ~23-24 Brix which would be a bit too high. — a year ago
Finally able to try Cobb. Pinot is extremely hit or miss for me, but I know I enjoy them on the fresh side, close to the coast and with whole cluster use.
Pop and pour. 12.3ABV. Translucent red/purple in the glass. Checks off all the boxes mentioned above…extremely fragrant. Gorgeous floral notes on the nose. Crunchy red fruits, potpurri, herbal and spice from the whole cluster use, mint and black tea. Bright and nervy acidity with good tannin on the finish. For how low the ABV is, it has perfect weight and doesn’t come across lean simply for lean sake. Followed from bottle over two hours and stayed strong. Wonderfully made and definitely my style. — 3 months ago
