Effusive and elegant. Poached black plums, macerated black berries, spicecake, clove, dried rose petals, Ceylon cinnamon, star anise, cool herbs, moss, fir, gravel, leaves, leather and a kiss of cured meat. Big time deliciousness right here, just enough heady richness balanced by wonderful whole cluster perception of tannin and acid. Love the development, in the zone for my palate. El Corralón Vino de Paraje Grenache Syrah 2017

Good quality wine, inviting and appealing, good balance, though somewhat fierce alcohol. A two dimensional complexity with a ripe, juicy strawberry foreground in front of a floral, spicy (and a hint of savoury) background. Very ripe, yet with a good presence and density. Somewhat simple and dilute finish, but overall a food performance considering the price. — 2 years ago

El Reventón Cebreros Garnacha 2015

The nose was slightly restrained, yet very, very pretty, showing fresh, ripe strawberries off the vine, moist earth, dusty sweet spices, a mix of exotic florals, stone dust, and hints of white pepper. On the palate, I found silky-soft textures, with an almost creamy feel, delivering a sweet yet peppery display of ripe yet also savory cherry, raspberry sauce, confectionary spices, minerals and wonderfully balancing acidity. The finish was long, yet subtle, with pretty red fruits, red licorice, spice, and masses of tactile inner florals, as I felt a warming, yet pleasing sensation of heat going down. What a crazy wine and so easy to like already. — 4 months ago

Las Iruelas El Tiemblo Garnacha 2015

The 2015 Daniel Gomez Jimenez Landi Las Iruelas is exotic and spellbinding from the first tilt of the glass, showing a bouquet of dried florals, crushed strawberries, and a dusting of Christmas spice, as it develops more complexity in the glass, with white smoke minerality, hints of black pepper, and leaning now toward the black fruit spectrum.  It envelopes the palate in soft textures, deceiving at first, as a mix of tart red berry fruit descends upon the senses, further complicated by saturating minerals and savory spice, cheeks puckering from brisk acids as an air of sweet violet florals amass toward the close.  The finish is long and spicy, with fine tannins clenching with a lasting twang of blackberry and citrus. Delectable Wine

A Cinsault planted in sandy, quartz soils. On the nose, cherry and earth notes plus hints of pea and a touch of sulfur. Soft in texture, it has gentle tannins with a little chalk and a rich aftertaste. A flavorful wine. (Joaquín Hidalgo, Vinous, March 2020)
