Rorick Vineyard Albariño 2016

Half price beauty on K&L.

Winery Notes: "Citrus blossom aromatics, with lemon oil, pineapple, lemongrass, minerality, and viscosity on palate. The Albariño comes from a beautiful vineyard site in Calaveras County, owned and managed by Matthew Rorick and family. The fruit was harvested pre-dawn in mid August at 22.5 deg brix., and promptly hauled "down the hill" to the winery. Whole cluster pressed and fermented in neutral Hungarian oak barrels, there were no additions made to the wine aside from a moderate amount of sulfur dioxide to prevent oxidation. Aged 11 months on lees, and bottled on August 24th, 2016. The vines were planted in 2003 on a mixture of schist, quartz, and volcanic soils."

Amador County País 2019

Day one, watermelon Jolly Rancher. Day two, ocean air wafting over a hot dumpster. Or just a supremely funky sour beer. — 19 days ago

Mr. Burgess Sierra Foothills Red Rhone Blend 2014

The most forestry nose syrah I’ve experienced. Which is consistent with other ratings. More like a brambly foothill oak forest rather than the elegant pine forest nose you find in some coastal pinots. it’s not a one liner... has some good depth and length. — 24 days ago

Shenandoah Valley Zinfandel 2017

Another bottle. Thanks Robbie. Amazingly dense nose. Curry spices, sage and a horse. Graphite and pencil sharpener. Plus something fruity. Maybe plums. Or dried sweet cherries. Flavors are classic Amador Zin. Nutmeg and cherry juice. Campfires and fancy Flame raisins. It’s still a nice wine, but better smelling than it tastes. The mouth has a bit too much ripe stuff and not enough to chewy on. — 5 days ago

Rorick Heritage Vineyard Mondeuse Rosé 2019

One of the best roses I’ve had in a while (and in the perfect setting). Vibrant, textural and expressive with watermelon, cherry, hibiscus and a touch of garrigue. It’s a shame I didn’t get a photo with the actual juice because the deep almost magenta color was 💣 but the bottle didn’t last long enough... — 19 days ago
