The label is barely there, but i bought in the James Halliday's collection auction as a Wood Matured Black label 1979.
At this stage I opened a few of these old semillon and I am honestly loving them even though i realise that not everyone would.
Once they get to room temperature the magic happens.
This is complex and fairly fresh, not gone at all.
I smell almond, bruised apples, nutmeg, ginger, turmeric, lanolin, coriander. Autumn forest floor and boiled chestnuts. Nougat and marzipan. Peppermint.

Double Black Merlot 2018, Paso Robles, California
Time for some Merlot on this #MerlotThursday.
Dark ruby in color with a reddish rim.
Fruity nose of plums, cherries, wood, cloves, light vegetables, vanilla, spices, earth, light barnyard and black pepper.
Medium plus in body with medium plus acidity.
Dry on the palate with black cherries, black plums, currants, light oak, spices, earth, wet leaves, herbs and dark coffee.
Medium finish with round tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a nice Merlot from Paso Robles. Easy drinking with a nice mouthfeel.
Needs an hour to open up properly and come into itself.
A nice wine to sip on by the porch. Good by itself or with food.

Очень яркий, тяжёлый, богатый аромат вина с тонами спелых темных фруктов и ягод, пряностей и черного перца. Клубничное варенье завершает. Немного постоять не помешает(немного спиртов по началу)
Толстые густые ноги. Много танинов, структура густая.
Вкус вина очень сбалансированный, фруктовый, очень мягкий. Корица. Не кислотное, спирта не чувствуется
Длительное послевкусие, вяжет и сушит. Присутствует горчинка чёрного перца

Fresh, lush & quite hedonistic, black fruit galore with a whiff of herbs & spice. + a touch of leather & roast and a pinch of black pepper. Velvety & plush on the palate but the juicy acidity balances it perfectly. This is scary drinkable and disappears faster then you’d think and despite the unnoticeable 15-% alc.

Berry pepper nose, nice. The edges tingle my nostrils, also pleasant. A tinge of meatiness lingers. Definitely get the berry-cherry hit, and that meatiness in the nose is also present. The tannins are not hard but soft and pleasant. Great sipper on its own, and I think could handle a hearty meal. — 23 days ago
