Birthday and Father’s Day celebrations. Special treat from a client. Black Sears Vineyard living up to all I have heard. Rich dark fruit, blackberry pie in a glass, soft tannins, a very balanced wine, served with smoked bbq beer can chicken, roasted veggies and potatoes. Spices from the chicken pairing very well. Black Label Stags Leap District Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

It is time for a delicious Cabernet for my #FridayCabernetfix.

Dark ruby in color, almost Inky, with a short reddish rim.

Strong fruity nose of blackberries, sweet plums, cooked cherries, toasted cedar, vanilla, tobacco, Za'atar, chocolates, coffee, cola, black pepper, eucalyptus and spices.

Full bodied and smooth with medium acidity and long legs.

Dry and fruity on the palate with blackberries, black currants, plums, cooked cherries, cedar, vanilla, licorice, light cola, coffee, spices, tobacco, dark chocolates, light earth and black pepper.

Long spicy finish with fine grained tannins, peppercorn and cherries.

This is a wonderful Cabernet Sauvignon from Stags Leap. Spicy and interesting. Showing great complexity and mouthfeel at this point.

Good right out of the bottle, and better after 2 hours of airtime, when the tannins calm down.

This 6 year old Single Vineyard Cabernet, is drinking very nicely now, and will continue to age nicely in the next 10 years.

I had this vintage a couple of years ago and it is even better now.

Delicious and engaging. Fruit forward and good by itself as a sipping wine.

14.5% alcohol by volume.

The Black Pig Reserve McLaren Vale Shiraz 2017

Deep dark Ruby in colour - almost black. Ripe dark plum flesh and skins on nose and palate - sweet fruit and chocolate. A mouthful of flavour if not a bit simple. McLaren Vale does these big rich Shirazes well. A crowd pleaser with excellent QPR - a gift from my brother in law. — 14 days ago
