Deep, smooth, solid wine , $25 — 2 years ago
Pretty opaque, violet rim . Deep spice filled nose , blackberry , blackcurrant , dark cherry , floral hints . Lovely and expansive on the palate , dark blackberry and dark cherry , chocolate richness , but dry extract with marked but fine tannin and balanced acidity . Very long and filling . Nutmeg , and a meaty character after a while, with an oyster shell , mineral finish . This actually shows quite well , it’s enormous potential is clear , with time in the glass it does change quite a lot and invites you back for another try. For such a full bodied , full blooded wine it has so much completeness and harmony , there is no excess sweetness and the alcohol is balanced and seemlessly integrated . I am glad a tried it now , though I would imagine it’s best days to be 25-40 years in the future . @ Ben Ean , Hunter Valley . — 3 months ago
This 1998 cab is a classically structured red with luxurious aromas of herb, cedar and clove. After being decanted for an hour the palate tastes of rich fruit and dense oak with underlying freshness and longevity. The tannins are perfectly balanced to make this 25 year old Cabernet a winner! — 4 months ago
The 2003 Ducru-Beaucaillou, picked 15-25 September and matured in 90% new oak, has a ripe and opulent bouquet with lavish black fruit, fresh fig, dates and a touch of liquorice, though here is no sense of over-maturity here. It is fresher than a lot of ‘03s that I have recently tasted. The palate is well balanced with supple, rounded tannins. There is a real candied essence to this Ducru-Beaucaillou, with quite a pronounced liquorice finish that you want to go back to. This is ageing well - one of the better wines of this infamous growing season. Tasted at the Ducru Beaucaillou vertical at the château. (Neal Martin, Vinous, July 2022)

1999 Opus- this 25 year old Napa wine was superb. The longer the decanting the more flavorful it became. Spicy at first sip with bursts of flavor from dark berries, leathery tannins, currant, earth and strong blackberry. Gains intensity and shows its depth and concentration on the finish, which is long and detailed. — 4 months ago

25%, Cab, 25% Syrah, 25% Petit Verdot and 25% Touriga Nacional - this blend is most exquisite with notes of raspberries, sherry and wet oak. On the palette, rich flavors of black pepper, black fruits and pistachios. Full flavor, medium tannins and a lingering finish. Let this one breathe a bit prior to drinking. Cheers!! — 2 months ago
