#Tannic beast of a wine! #Georgian #Saperavi by #NikaWinery. Have had wines from this #organic producer before that were much softer & more approachable. This #unfiltered offering needed to stay locked away in the #cellar for a little while yet until maybe it could have come around. Its tannic nature is not at balance with the somewhat high acidity. Interesting but very abrasive at this point. Will put a #cork in it and see what happens overnight. Hopefully it will soften and flesh out a bit, becoming something less assertive & better integrated tomorrow. #Optimistic. — 10 years ago

The first time I tasted this #argentinian wine #argentina I found the #tannic tannins too rough, but blind tasting it I found it to be outstanding. The mind and the eyes are very suggestive. deep ruby, medium+ aromas of black fruits (cassis, plum and blackberries) herbal (black tea, earl gray tea and capsicum), secondary aromas of Oak (cedar, sandalwood and cinnamon) and tertiary aromas of leather. On the palate it’s dry, medium acidity, high alcohol and full bodied long finish smooth fine grained tannins — 5 years ago
