sealed in clay for 11 years, pears and apples, but most of the fruit is gone, some mellow lactic bacteria going in the finish but pleasant. #georgian #wine #winetasting — 8 years ago
#Tannic beast of a wine! #Georgian #Saperavi by #NikaWinery. Have had wines from this #organic producer before that were much softer & more approachable. This #unfiltered offering needed to stay locked away in the #cellar for a little while yet until maybe it could have come around. Its tannic nature is not at balance with the somewhat high acidity. Interesting but very abrasive at this point. Will put a #cork in it and see what happens overnight. Hopefully it will soften and flesh out a bit, becoming something less assertive & better integrated tomorrow. #Optimistic. — 10 years ago

A curio. Traditional #georgian grape planted in the Rhône by Campuget and vinified. Some really lovely fruit, a big cherry/blackberry accord and easy tannins. Rather lovely quaffer, but we’re missing the grip of its Georgian cousins. Would be fab with July 4th BBQ though. — 4 years ago
