Toasty plum and rye with cedar hinting at mascarpone-mint, boasting bright blueberry, dry blackberry and raisin-currant melange; withered hibiscus. Decidedly grape-y on the nose and into a mouthful of red currant, dried cranberries, green tea, pencil, cinnamon bark, savory, plus a salted black plum, and baked cranberry. This one has had oxygen exposure for 7 days, but is still wound up. Hold this one for a ten year minimum in my opinion. It was good yesterday, but better today. It shall not live to see tomorrow. Honestly built and spectacular in the making. #keenan #robertkeenanwinery #keenancab #napacabs #napacab #cab #cabernetsauvignon #cabsauv #sainthelena #springmountaincabernet #springmountaindistrict #springmountain #mountainfruit #mountainwine #sustainablyfarmed #sustainable #solarpoweredwine — a month ago
Refreshing to taste as this has remained true to a more traditional style.
Deep garnet in color. Bing cherry, currants, pencil shavings, licorice and some bell pepper, a youthful and enveloping nose. The palate is bright with medium acidity, medium+ body and fine to medium grain tannin. A long and complicated (good thing) finish. Insane value for Napa Cabernet single vineyard wine. Don't worry about hunting this vintage, get whatever you find. #producerovervintage #togni #springmountain — 5 years ago
02' Keenan Reserve Cabernet. After popping my 01 Silverado reserve a few days ago... I started thinking about what cabernets I consumed 5-10-15 years ago. I remembered how much I loved these wines at the time.
I thought this could possibly be a pop and pour wine. Very little on the nose when I originally popped it. The tannins needed to soften up a little bit. After 15 minutes, started to open up. I also remembered how much I loved that smokiness & soft elegant black fruit. Violets...I couldn't forget that long and inviting finish.
