@Sophie Barrett I adored it! Nothing confected about it at all, it was so pretty and lean, with a not of earth and minerals behind the strawberry fruit, and a bit of a savory bouillon thing going on. Maybe it's the vintage, or a the few extra years of bottle age. Anyhow, I am sure you would have loved it too!

Vin Jaune Arbois Savagnin 2006

My very first Vin Jaune, made by the master of Arbois, Jacques Puffeney. Made from a grape many confuse for something else - Savaginin. However upon the first whiff from the glass you know this is no ordinary white wine! Smells of salty and stinky cheese ooze from the glass like an epoisses cheese, then come the minerals compounding the complexity. Bright and salty aromas follow the funk down to the palate and are immediately washed clean by the high acidity. I could see this crushing soft sell crabs and other fried and/or salty goodness.
